13 signed. How many do we have left to sign in Feb? HOPEFULLY CNB will tell us that in thirty minutes. For those who have access to facebook at work: Troy University Athletics is getting set up for today’s #TroyNSD18 Facebook live show with HC Neal Brown and Barry McKnight ... Coming to you at 1:00 (central)

I 100% Agree with CNB about the importance of guys playing multiple sports in HS. I played with many guys at Troy who were also All State in Basketball, Baseball, Track and Wrestling.

13 signed. How many do we have left to sign in Feb? Dave was listening to the broadcast and heard the answer to this GREAT question. I wanted everyone to KNOW so we understand the goal. In the next two days of early signing we will add one OR two more, then finish off the #EarnIt18 Class in February. The goal for this class is 21. Picking up two-thirds of your signing class two months early is not only huge in regards to KNOWING what you have, BUT allows coaches to begin to focus on the 2019 Class!!

Looks like a great start to the class of 2018. Just curious, but are the pics of the signees photoshopped or do these guys put on jerseys when they visit?

I’m not complaining but it seems to me there are a lot of JUCOs, or am I imagining things?

We seem to win even though the likes of Texas St "out recruit" us. Looks like they are supposedly ahead of us in recruiting again. I just say "scoreboard" to that.

However three of them have three years of eligibility left ... and if you look at their background several are from the Interstate 65 / Highway 231 corridor which means we have KNOWN these guys for an extended period of time. Basically been on the radar and NOW is the time to come HOME!

There is 400 Plus miles of Florida past the Panhandle also and that is where the majority of the talent and top programs are at Yes, but NB has specifically said he wanted to put extra emphasis on the 231 Corridor in Alabama, Atlanta-south in Georgia and the panhandle of Florida & Jacksonville. He feels Troy has good name recognition in those geographic areas and wants to take full advantage of that. It doesn't mean he and staff won't look high and low for the next class of Trojans. I think he wants to stake his claim to the his own backyard before throwing all the marbles in a farther-away locale.

They've done that really just last couple years since new coach got there. They have some good young talent ... will be much improved next couple years.

Local talent brings local fan interest. Kids from rural Alabama, Georgia and Florida can relate more to Troy. I would say Troy is an easier sell to a kid from Tifton Georgia than an inner city Atlanta kid IMO.

I Agree, the talent from 2013 and 2014 is the reason for Troy success in 2016 and 2017. It was not recruits, it was coaching, so stop beating on the past recruiting classes. Last year when Troy won 10 games and a bowl game and this year when Troy won 11 games to include a Sun Belt Conference Championship and bowl game using the 2013 and 2014 recruits, there were no complaining about the past recruit, there was just celebrating. Coach Neal Brown has done a great job using past and present talent to help with the new success of the Troy Trojans football program.

Or South Florida Well then how do you explain both starting WR's, Safety, LB, DE and several back-ups on the 1987 Team? Glad Coach Mac didn't believe that. He did what great recruiters do, he sold the program to the players. You never know what a kid is looking for so to generalize and assume costs you talent. We won with guys from Troy, Elba, Dothan, Enterprise, Montgomery, Mobile, Birmingham, Mississippi, TN, Georgia, Pensacola and the Panhandle, Live Oak, Jacksonville, Miami, Tampa, Lakeland, Vero Beach, Clewiston, Pakokkee, Arcadia.

Just wanted to get a rise out of you.....Honestly kids in all kinds of spots want different things...and that goes for all kinds of fields of sports or careers...what one guy hates another loves. So all is good even in South Florida... however when limited by budget or time closer is generally more fruitful....but hey "hear hear to Pahokee, Imokalee, and Marathon".
