Guy was a mizzou commit. Hard to get through to some of these guys who constantly are told you're amazing, come to Troy. Hard to pitch when you have P5 schools coming in with TV deals, entire networks, and at times money and jobs for family

We technically only had one backup this season and usually only around three on actual scholarship with one or two walk ons. You play one qb unless you get a lead and usually take and dress three for games. We are going to have a great qb battle in the spring and fall

I will add to the conversation that IF you have an opportunity to sign a highly touted and ranked athlete you sign him or her no matter how many athletes you have in that position. Provided of course said highly touted and ranked athlete is the right fit for the program.

Talking about recruiting, we will be ok at QB next year. They better be looking for some help on the defensive side of the ball when it comes to their depth. Troy will lose a lot on that side of the ball when it comes to starters and leadership. Not to say we want have player to step up, but I do see a shortage of depth in some of the areas on defense.

You also need your practice QBs for the scout teams. Ortner has seen the field this year too, if I'm not mistaken. Troy is fortunate to keep quality around at the position.

Agreed! According to the 247 rankings ... top 6 or 7 commits so far are Defense. And, most of the commits are Defense. Hope we can pick up a few more D Lineman over the next couple months! We lose some solid, underrated D-linemen this year.

One thing I think we have next year is more mobility at qb. Brandon ran ok but both Smith and Barker are much quicker we need to avoid the rush and extend plays. Watching the UCF-Memphis game that UCF qb extends plays and makes things happen. Huge when you have that. I'm excited about the qb position going forward. I really believe we are better offensively next year providing a rb steps up and I have concerns about Henderson's head. Hope he matures because the talent is there in him

You also have a 3* RD in DK Billingsley waiting in the wings...I like the looks of the make-up of next year's offense.

Seems it would behoove the program for marcus #8 to get more touches. Talented, solid young man.
