1:23 left to go in the game and Troy trailing 25-24. I'm watching the game at good friend and fellow Trojans house and he and I said...this is what you want, your senior qb with the ball in his hands and a chance to win the game! I actually became really calm and in that moment realized we are going to win the game!! Boy did he and the offense deliver!! Epic drive that further cements his legacy as one of the greatest Trojans to ever step on the field! Go Trojans! Cry Havoc! and Brandon Freaking Silvers!!

Brandon, don't you have a paper to write or an exam to study for?

Did he break Sim Byrd's passing records?

Did he break Sim Byrd's passing records? Levi did. Brandon is better than a lot of people give him credit for. I say that as someone who has questioned him being starter at times and wondered where his head was. But when you're the qb it's all the glory or all the blame. Most people don't account for the offensive line being a bit inconsistent and skittish or receivers that drop balls that are basically gift wrapped and handed to them. He's matured a lot over the last four years, and he would be even better if he had started out in a stable program rather than one that was in flux and trending down. Glad he and all the seniors got their championship ring. They deserved it for all the work they've put in to get us back to this point.

Brandon came through for us yesterday. I give him a ton of credit for that. He has been a solid QB for us, just think Levi's a notch above him.

I completely agree that Levi was the best I've personally seen play. But Brandon has done a great job and deserves praise for his contributions to this program and helping to deliver another championship to Troy!

Brandon has had a great career. I vote for Kelvin Simmons and Mike Turk as best.

Don't forget Omar. He was only here two years so his numbers aren't as gaudy as Somme. But he was a great dual threat. I saw some high-liters of the FSU game. I forgot how big Omar was, how fast, he was, and how when he decided to pull it down and run, he was a true threat. Maybe not the best ever at TROY, but certainly one of.

So many great QBs since Omar: IMO Omar was the best overall out of the bunch, Levi was the best passer, Jamie probably my favorite, such a great character, too many injuries though. Corey produced great stats but he was here during our down years (bad timing I guess). Brandon will always be remembered as the QB who helped turning the program around. I think that Barker and Smith will be very good QBs for us. I like both but I really want to see what Sawyer Smith will do as he was highly recruited out of HS (decommitted from UCF and offered by Miss St, South Florida, Southern Miss, etc). The highest rated QB we ever signed out of HS, so expectations are high.

Kelvin Simmons laid the foundation for where we are today - dude was a freak - he would absolutely break every record for a QB in our system - specfically rushing and passing yards

Lots of great ones at Troy.
I saw Sym Byrd play when my Brother was at Troy. He wore white shoes before it was fashionable.
I think he was the best passer. Remember they played fewer games back then.
Overall, I could not choose between Byrd, Omar, Levi, and Brandon.

Does anyone know why Al Head quit? He was a really good one, might have eventually been a great one.
He stayed in school and was eligible for athletics as he came down to the track one day and tried the javelin.

Given time to pass, I'd take CR every time. He played during the time we couldn't get the defense straightened out. He threw for a lot of yards and TDs...we just couldn't stop many teams.

He was a winner also, only lost two games at Troy in 24 starts and his march down the field and two point conversion against Central St in 1993 is legendary

He also couldn't outrun his center and threw the ball up for grabs alot, twice against Miss St that cost us the game in 2012. He was acurate and threw down field much better than Brandon but I would take Levi over CR any day.

Willie Tullis for us real old timers. Final season 1980. Not saying he’s the best but he was outstanding. Drafted by Houston. Returned kickoffs as a rookie. Returned one 95 yards for a TD versus the rams to beat them in early September 1981. Jim McKay, on television, called him a “rookie from nowhere”. We didn’t have social media at the time, just telephones, but due to the outcry from the Trojan nation about this, McKay was on television the next week with a map showing the location of TROY, ALABAMA, HOME OF TROY STATE UNIVERSITY!

Silvers has been a roller coaster QB in my opinion but many props to him on a great pressure drive to lead Troy to its 1st sunbelt title in a while. IMO if we had the following QB's this season leading Troy then Troy would be playing in a New Years 6 bowl game this year:
1. Kelvin S 2. Levi B 3. Omar H 4. Corey R
I would put Brandon some where in the top 10 though.

Actually, as a starter growing up through Troy (ie HS & JUCO), dude only lost 2 games. Liberty and Marshall. He was my teammate, so I’m biased, but his talent was before this spread time - much like Sim Byrd. And Willie Tullis was a stud, too - and a heckuva nice guy.

Willie was an outstanding QB for Troy and had a very successful NFL career. Sat with him at a Homecoming game when Levi was in his Senior year. I watched his first game against the LA Rams and saw that epic KO return. The announcer was actually D*** Enberg, shortly after his call of the game, he wrote a note to TROY apologizing for saying Tullis was from 'NOWHERE'...
Go TROY!
