How many power 5 schools were trying to hire Blakeney? He was a good coach who stayed a long time here and had success. He recruited a team that should have won at least One FCS title. Give credit for getting Neal Brown here. He also refused to fire the worst coordinator in FBS. I understand he is a sacred cow at Troy, but he was far from perfect. He was 31-7 up at LSU and lost. Should have mopped the floor with a pathetic Tennessee team put up 700 yards of offense up and lost to Derek Dooley. His best FBS season was 9-4. Trust me , Neal Brown could get us to a New year's six bowl in a special season and win more sun belt titles than his predecessor. I have heard good things about Steve Campbell as well. Hope we can get him if when Brown goes. We are a program on the rise now.

If Coach Brown stays he will eclipse Blakeney. Mark my words. Duh...145+ wins may come a bit quicker too... Much easier done when you're already there and not busting your butt because you have the faith and the guts to take the program you believe in two divisions higher. Playing good games against the two teams who played for the National Championship in the transition year to D1 and beating Miss. St. that same year. Again, Brown is here due to Blakeney and still playing a lot of his recruits. I'm proud to have Brown as well, but I will not sit back and watch the men who made this possible be thrown under the bus.

Hope we can get him if when Brown goes. We are a program on the rise now. I never said he was perfect. I don't see anyone as a "sacred cow". He is the primary reason we are where we are today. And let me help you out a little. It was 31-3 at LSU. It was also 20-17 with 3:59 to play against them in 2004, our third year in D1 and our first bowl year. It was 721 yards at Tennessee. Anyone can pick out individual games. Look at the body of work and be grateful for the men who did it. But rest assured, what you view as a "sacred cow" is far from perfect.

We had a good coach who paved the way for a great one IMO. With the resources we had at the time, Blakeney was about as good a coach as we could have got. He still had some inexcusable losses and never quite got teams to play up to the level of their ability on paper at times. We should have one or two more championships up on that scoreboard with the athletes Blakeney recruited here. Neal Brown is an upper echelon coach. That being said, no one is perfect not even Nick Saban or Vince Lombardi. I think Golden years for Troy Football are ahead if Brown stays. If not, I think we can get a competitive replacement.

Coach Brown is a great coach. Blakeney was a good coach. Blakeney was out coached by Derek Dooley. 700 yards vs Tennessee and lost. Brown out coached the pants off of Ed Orgeron. Not to mention bring #1 seed in FCS losing to #16 Georgia Southern. Just stating the facts. If Blakeney was a great coach he would have left. He would have taken the Auburn job in the bat of an eye if he was offered. I admire what he did over the years for Troy and had a nice run but he left a mess Brown had to fix. He stayed about 3-4 years too long. I hope we can keep Brown as long as possible. Tennessee was a freakin classic Rowell coached implosion. Tennessee QB had so many completions after pump fakes it was stupid. But I guess Blakeney ultimately is at fault for keeping an obvious unqualified coach at coordinator. Point taken on good ole boy comment. There was a reason CLB never left Troy. CLB has a very sharp football mind, the program slipped away the last 3-4 years causing the mudslide. He was coaching is hang on instead of coaching to dominate. CLB is the living legend of Troy (State) football. Making comparisons to CNB now is just asinine.

2 things: 1.) Gotroygo struggles with factual data, has an enhanced view of his fandom is better than others, and dreams of finding CNB's page on backpage.com 2.)

This day and time coaching is a money game. If you can produce and someone wants you badly, it’s all about their dollars. Things have really changed over the past ten year when it comes to coaching at the college level. Question is will he go or stay and may answer is, if the money is right and they want him, I do believe he will move on.

I don't know if we go bowling at 6-6 I'd say we need to go at least 7-5. God help us if we need a kick to win a game. Go out and get some kid on campus. How was this Legassy kid rated as a 3 Star kicker?

Brown will break all of Blakeneys records here if he stays long enough. Then what will you say about it? Been going to Troy games since 89. Seen plenty to know who the better coach is. You can bet the team would have folded like a book against LSU with LB. Maybe I'm a little controversial but I can handle that when I'm right. Campbell or Turk will keep us competitive after Neal Brown. Should have won it all in FCS at least once with the talent we had. The man could recruit. Tell me Rowell wasn't the worst coach in FBS? Tell me Blakeney didn't stay too long? The AD had to tell him to quit.I'm.not in a popularity contest here.

I have not always agreed with CLB but he deserves mad props. Your thinking on this is kinda crazy and dumb.
