Unsure what this is referring to but he had no decent offers. (YET)
Maybe a joke. But it is silly season in the coaching front. And quite often coaches agents often float things out into the interwebs to generate some buzz for their clients.
This is a nothing burger.
If we win tomorrow and have a 10 win next year, He Gone.

I most certainly did not get this information from an agent. It was someone with direct knowledge of the meeting and what was said in the meeting. I then reported it Wednesday night and had that story up Thursday morning. Now, does it mean he is guaranteed to stay? No, of course not. But with the timing of it, as my story says, it shows what step Brown is looking to take next.

Sorry guy, your story is pure speculation with no sources. “ Neal Brown will be on the immediate short list for Memphis and UCF”. You have no sources for this and this is filler for a clickbait “article”.

I love what Neal's done with the program, I think he's more than a great guy - a man of character. That said, you never, ever take a coach's word until he's coaching Game 1 of the next season. We'll see what happens when the coaching carousel trickles down to the Sun Belt. It hasn't even begun yet.
And to be honest, I haven't even really given this much thought until right now. We have the most hyped / exciting game we've had since APP last season tomorrow night. The world will be watching and it will be a damn good game. That's what I'm focused on.

I did not write this story because I woke up and decided I would spout nonsense for clicks. I was alerted by someone who did not give me permission to reveal them that Neal Brown told his staff he was staying. I then relayed that information to everyone because it is my job. Guessing that Brown would be a good fit at UCF and Memphis at the end should not and does not render my story "clickbait".

Just glad we have Coach Brown for now. These are great times for Troy football. I think he has done more in 2 Years than Blakeney did. At least in FBS. Good times ahead as We have a solid foundation. We will get a good replacement when that day comes. I hope coach Brown stays for as long as he wants. He can retire at Troy as far as I'm concerned.

You presented that he is on the short lists as facts. Blog away

I know this. As long as Coach Brown is here we will be Bowl eligible and in contention in the Sun Belt.

I disagree simply because of the schedules that Troy had back then. There were schedules with at least 2 body bag games and we won a few along the way. I like NB as much as the next Trojan, but he has 2 10-win seasons and 1 SBC title as the head ball coach. Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water.

Blakeney never won 10 games in FBS and I think a Blakeney team wouldn't have beaten LSU, they would have folded IMO. Blakeney was reliant on assistants. Granted Vic is a superb DC. Brown is a better X And O man than Blakeney. Blakeney was a good recruiter in his day. Brown is a better coach overall. Brown Is an A Coach Blakeney about a B IMO. There was a reason Blakeney never moved up. He did a lot for Troy I give him his due there.

There was a reason Blakeney never moved up. He did a lot for Troy I give him his due there. If by "did a lot" you mean he led TROY Football from Div II to Div 1AA then to Div 1A, put on the field a product that was exciting enough to draw interest that justified expanding the stadium from 12,500 capacity to its current 30,000, won multiple Souhland Conference titles, won 5 Sunbelt titles as well as some marquee games along the way, and hired a young, upcoming guy named Neal Brown as an assistant, giving him his first major Div1 responsibility, then I guess he "did a lot" for TROY. I think Neal Brown was the coach we needed when we hired him and I still feel that way - I hope he stays for a long time, but to say that he's done more for TROY in 3 years than CLB did during his tenure makes no sense to me.

If Coach Brown stays he will eclipse Blakeney. Mark my words. I won't argue that point, you may be, and I hope you are right. However, you said Brown has done more for TROY in 2 years than CLB did. I'm saying, that's not the case.

Coach Brown is a great coach. Blakeney was a good coach. Blakeney was out coached by Derek Dooley. 700 yards vs Tennessee and lost. Brown out coached the pants off of Ed Orgeron. Not to mention bring #1 seed in FCS losing to #16 Georgia Southern. Just stating the facts. If Blakeney was a great coach he would have left. He would have taken the Auburn job in the bat of an eye if he was offered. I admire what he did over the years for Troy and had a nice run but he left a mess Brown had to fix. He stayed about 3-4 years too long. I hope we can keep Brown as long as possible.

Better than losing to the worst coach in the SEC in decades. S Alabama was a bad loss, but look how we rebounded. Blakeney was an 7 to 8 win a year coach at the FBS level. We have one more of the top coaching minds in the country now instead of a good ol boy. Just being brutally honest.

Brutally honest is finding a spot between your ears to understand that without Larry Blakeney and Johnny Williams you wouldn't be crowing about Neal Brown today. He would never have walked our sideline. Don't belittle the men who laid the foundation. It was happening long before the start of the 2015 season.
