Word I got was we were willing to pay Brown $1 million a year to stay. I say get the checkbook out. Maybe that will be enough to keep him 3-4 more years.

Especially to open up the new field house Sure, he could. But another 10-3 or 11-2 season he could also be gone. A lot of openings are gonna happen this year I think... ga Southern just fired their coach. It's all about to start happening

This is my guess or maybe just a feeling but I think Brown will stay at Troy for a while.
He had a job to do when he accepted the head coaching position. He will probably want to stick around until he finishes it. Perhaps he will stay because of the uncertainties of taking a position at another school.

We will be graduating a lot of production (although it hasn’t played out on the field at least on offense). Next year will be a “reloading year” which will bring some uncertainty in itself. If there is a higher paying gig (and there will be if we win 9 or more I think), CNB will go and nobody could really blame him. It’s just business. When a better opportunity comes along, you take it whether it be financially or notoriety. At that time, we’ll thank him for a great job turning the program around and take the buyout money and invest it in the next guy. I just hope it’s another young firey coach that will relate and recruit well. The truth is that this will always happen with schools like Troy. Blakeney was loyal to Troy because there was such a black mark after the Auburn situation that by the time he rebuilt his reputation, no one wanted to hire someone headed for retirement. That’s my 2 cents anyways. Either way, I’ll happily lose coaches if it’s because we keep winning! Go Trojans!

My $0.02, he's not dragging 3 kids all over the country. If UK or U of L opens up then he's headed home. When he says Troy is a special place, I believe him. I truly believe it's not always about the money like that. I'm not saying he'll never leave, but he can let his agent worry about such trivial things.

If he leaves we get Steve Campbell for less than we are paying now Why not pay Steve Campbell the million to make sure he stays? He sounds like he deserves the money. CNB may stay a few more years anyway. Brown has roots here. His children were born in Troy if I'm not mistaken. He seems like a fine man and I believe he does care about this University. When he does leave I wish him the best of luck.

Just because its a bigger school and more money, doesnt mean its a better opportunity. Neal is savvy, I think he will take the right opportunity because he sees the right potential long term. It does him no good to jump at the first offer from some crappy program and lose, that gets him nowhere except a ticket back to being an assistant somewhere else in a couple of years, he will eventually leave when the right program comes but that might be this year or way down the road.

I have said much the same. Look at PJ Fleck at Minnesota just because a P5 calls and has more money is not necessarily a wise move.

If he leaves we get Steve Campbell for less than we are paying now Pay Steve the $1m+, dominate in conference, routinely win the non-conference we're paid to lose and finally become the power we've been on the verge of for years.

Leopards don't change their spots. Three national championships as a player and HC. 20+ years as HC and never a loosing season. Currently #6 in FCS with only loss to Kansas St. He's a winner plain and simple

I would think Arkansas is giving him a look. Bielema is finished. Campbell would be an outstanding choice but we may be waiting in line for him.

All this talk about CNB leaving is certainly a possibility but Coach Vic is gonna have a lot of attention if this defensive pattern continues. He's been hired away before for good reason and probably will again.

I know CNB will leave us at some point. He's done things right in Troy, so when he does leave, I hope it is somewhere where he is a great fit and will be successful, but still leaves us okay. I've imagined him taking a path much like Coach Pete. He is at Boise for half of forever and only leaves when a job he feels he is a great fit for opens. Now look at what he's done at Washington.

However there was a Coach before Peterson at Boise that actually got the ball rolling on Boise Peterson took it and build upon it even further No doubt he's a great coach
