UAB is 4-2 . Bill Clark is a guy I'd gladly take as our head coach if/when Brown leaves. I wouldn't mind playing them again. It is a good in state rivalry to have. As for the FCS game, I'd try to keep ASU for a W and for local recruiting purposes. ASU brings a good crowd too when they play us at the Vet.

Give me a list of legitimate benefits Troy can offer Bill Clark to leave what he has built at UAB. I'll be sure to pass them on to him.

Give me a list of legitimate benefits Troy can offer Bill Clark to leave what he has built at UAB. I'll be sure to pass them on to him. Tradition, brand recognition, facilities - A) what will be one of the finest football facilities outside a P5 conference when. Completed in May B) an on campus stadium that people don't fear going to or leaving after dark, no oversight by the UA BOT, no PBJ, Mike Amos.... Need I go on?

Knowing that your administration isn't going to fold on you and call it quits. He may have another year at UAB and he's gone to greener pastures. Don't think for a minute that because he stuck around made UAB a quality football team, that his "heart is in Birmingham". He's as good as gone after 2018, and UAB goes back to being hot trash in a quick minute. Bill Clark is one in a million for a program like UAB.

Wonder what Clark could do at Auburn for instance? Malzahn won't make it another season. Troy would be sort of a lateral move for him. Post Brown I have heard Steve Campbell's name come up. Mike Turk is doing a fine job at Huntingdon, but it would be a big jump to the Sun Belt for him.

Campbell also won a national championship at Delta State. I think he would stay at Troy for the long haul as well

Out of curiosity are we replacing Neal because he was fired, as some on here want, or was he hired away?

If Jones is fired at South, Steve could very well be the next coach there. He was from Pensacola.

It’s plainly obvious that type of stuff sails over your head.

No place I can think of besides Washington DC that also accepted mediocrity. Fortunately that atmosphere is gone now

Bring Steve Campbell home when the time comes. Currently coaching the #6 team in FCS and never had a losing season I do hope this happens. Dream job for a great coach. Who better to recruit to TROY than a Trojan? Don't overlook Matt Moore as a potential replacement if Brown is stolen away. He's currently Co-OC, and has been around the great offensive minds of Neal Brown, Tony Franklin, and Sonny Dykes his whole career. Moore is part of that Kenucky/Texas Tech offensive-scheme family that originated from Hal Mumme/Mike Leach.

I want some smash mouth run the ball offense. It worked against LSU.

If Neal leaves bring Steve Campbell home where he belongs. Unless Neal leaves after this season some Sun Belt team will grab him away

As long as Brown is here he will keep us in the bowl picture anyway. Mike Turk would be intriguing, questions would be could handle the transition to FBS and would he leave a comfortable job even though he is a legend here.

Troy had one of the top offenses in the Sun Belt for many years, even last year. You won't like the results if Troy plays a run-based offense. It didn't work in Fleetwood's last few years, and it wouldn't work in today's world of spread offenses. The fact of the matter is, small programs like Troy can't consistently recruit the big talented offensive linemen, the big talented RB's, and the big WR's that can block, catch, AND have speed, that would make an offense like that work. The only teams that can be effective with a run-based offense at our level is Boise State, who is able to recruit nothing but 3-star players and some 4-star players, and your triple-option offenses like Navy, New Mexico, and Georgia Southern.

The spread offense is a good offense and I'm not saying we should abandon it... well let's play it differently it for a while. The spread is great until you match it against a defense with speed and the ability to put pressure on the qb. Our OL this year is better at run block than pass protection, hence Silvers gets a lot of pressure. Well ok, we have three world class running backs. If you watch the LSU game, and if you agree that it wasn't a fluke, then you will see we won that game offensively by running the ball. I don't think anyone would disagree that the LSU defense is one of the best we have or will face this year. If we can run the ball against LSU, then we should be able to run the ball against the rest of our schedule. After this season we lose most of our offense to graduation etc... so we will need the spread next season. This season we have the personnel to line up and smash people with the run game. We should be putting up 300 yards a game on the ground. I think we need to be a run first offense this season.

I want Steve Campbell to replace CNB when he's hired away, if we don't get him, another Sun Belt school will make us pay for that mistake...until we steal him back.
I just want CNB to get the program out of this damn boom/humiliating bust cycle that it's in. It doesn't mean I want him fired.

It's almost comical but when many of us said we should hire Steve in 2015 they said a coach with D2 and FCS experience in the Southland conference isn't qualified to coach Troy, yet when we moved up to D1 that is exactly what we got in LB. Hipocrites all of them
