#77 Xavier Fields #72 Tyler Lassiter #53 Antonio Garcia
The senior leadership from these 3 2016 OL was way underrated and overwhelmingly vacant in this 2017 squad. Yes we returned 98% of our offensive production. But the leadership torch wasn't received very well by the current group of SRs at least this seems to be the potential issue. Senior leadership is an immeasurable force that propels a team to success.
Just my thoughts after the debacle we witnessed last night.

No doubt this was a huge loss. I met all three of these young men and they were all first class young men. Garcia especially is a huge void. I would rate him and Kerry Jenkins as the two best OL in Troy history. However, these young men did not call the plays or catch passes. That falls on this staff and recievers

There's talent on this years offensive line, but you can't replace experience and leadership on the field. The guys making the line calls now looked to those guys last year during crunch time and when they had questions. Silvers was as snug as a bug in a rug last year behind that line. I'm sure he's not quite as confident this year and that will effect anyone's game.

My question is: Why was the Troy o-line so dominant against the LSU D line, but so dominated by the USA D line?

My question is: Why was the Troy o-line so dominant against the LSU D line, but so dominated by the USA D line? Different game plan. My theory is that for this week we changed up from the power run because we thought SoBam would be expecting it. Well, they were and they played heavy run defense but I think we could have muscled our way through it. I know we are a "air raid" team but I think we have best results when we play power football. If I had a game controller in the stands to call plays it would be.... 1. Chunn up middle. 2. Anderson up the middle. 3. Henderson off tackle. Then once I am up by two touchdowns I would air raid. I honestly think this OL is better at run blocking than pass protection. Fine... play it that way.

We see the same scheme every week 8 in the box tight man coverage

Overall point is not the talent but the leadership. I thought someone would take the reigns for leadership of the offense. Really wanted Brandon and Jordan to be that rock. It seems we are lacking the leadership on offense and without that leadership we will struggle on offense for the rest of the season no matter the talent level.

We see the same scheme every week 8 in the box tight man coverage As good as Silvers has been for us ... when the defense has 11 defending 10 ... sometimes we might have to be willing to go with Barker for a while and make the defense defend 11. Now ... if we could win 1-on-1 battles with the WRs ... then teams couldn't risk playing us man. But, we haven't been able to do that consistently. The few times that they replays showed the routes Wed. night ... they weren't that good. I don't think we had a single time when we created separation. We've got to get better there!

Correct and well said. We are seeing the same scheme every week. If we can get seperation and burn them deep we can get a defense out of this. Right now its 1) shut down run 2) tight man 3) make Silvers make tight throws. The two games they accomplished this perfect were our two loses. It will be interesting to see how we adjust rest of the season
