This week we host the Akron Zips. Game is at 5pm.
Guys this team coming in here is no joke. They are 1-2 but that record is misleading. Their losses are to Penn State and Iowa State. They have a dual threat QB and the resumes of their coaching staff is stout. I think they are going to be pissed off and will be hungry for a win.
We are going to need a full stadium and lots of cheering support. We can win this one but it won't be easy.

I watched Terry Bowden's press conference from today. Troy was barely mentioned. CTB didn't make an opening speech or at least I didn't see it. The press only asked questions about their Iowa State loss. I'm not saying the Akron team is dismissing us but it feels like their press is.

Plus he called us Troy State, which makes it even worse. He did call us Troy State. To be fair though, he coached against us twice I think when we were Troy State. I talk to a lot of old timers, and to them we will always be Troy State.

One friend as he was graduating stopped by to say goodbye and he is convinced that coach didn't know his name.

Plus he called us Troy State, which makes it even worse. Well, I still call the school in Lafayette Oo LaLa so.... Just kidding. It almost seemed as if he realized in the middle of saying what was happening and tried to catch himself. To his credit, he didn't do it again. Old habits are hard to break. Now let's beat the Zips like drum.

Now let's beat the Zips like drum. I couldn't agree more with your last statement. I just find it sad that coaches (regardless of whether they played us when we were Troy State or not) still can't get it right. If you truly respect us as a program, at least get our team name right. Maybe that's just me.

True... but wouldn't you like to sit on a porch in rocking chairs with some Bourbon and have a conversation with Bobby? I always thought that would be awesome. Bobby isn't perfect, none of us are, but there's a sequence in the movie We Are Marshall that speaks volumes to his character. After the plane crash that killed almost all of the Marshal football team and staff, Matthew McConahey's character goes to The University of West Virginia where Bowden was head coach to ask for some advice on the veer offense. Bowden told his assistant coach to give them everything they needed...game film, play books, the whole shootin' match. At the time, UWV and Marshall were conference opponents. Now the scene may have been overly dramatized for the movie, but the story is true. I'm not one who is easily star struck, there are few men that i would feel in awe of meeting. We all, after all, put em on one leg at the time. Bobby Bowden, however, is someone I would make an effort to meet. Warts and all, I think he's a man of character.

I have met Bobby Bowden but it was just a meet and greet. My biggest fluster was when I met Mike Turk. No joke I met him and told him I remembered watching him play. He was willing and made the effort to have a prolonged conversation with me but I blew it and couldn't find anything to say. There was an awkward silence.

Heck I felt awkward greeting the players as I got off of my plane and they were going through security to go to Boise. I mean every year these guys are my sports heroes. I don't follow pro sports really at all so TROY athletics is my passion when it comes to sports heroes. I was pure giddy fist bumping them. Then shook hands with Coach Moore and Coach Vic. I felt like a blubbering idiot lol. But I did feel like a kid in a candy store. And it was an awesome feeling. Haha I'm a 44 year old enamored by a bunch of men and women who I'm old enough to be their dad but man I love all the athletes who don the cardinal, silver, and black. Go TROJANS Cry HAVOC

I could only watch the first 5 minutes... I am so thankful for Neal Brown and his approach to the press conference each week.

Both were/are great names reminding us of great times!

Hey, anyway, one time during a Giants game Defense intro on the telly, Osi said, "University of Troy". If I can get over that, then TSU is Okay with me. icon_beavisnbutthead
