Thank you all for the responses! Instead of quoting everyone I'll just reply here. I understand the Trop has had a couple of unpopular opinions. I was not around for the Georgia fan but I was for the South Hate Week article. All I can say is us at sports thought it was a pretty trash opinion. Even though I wasn't around for GA guy, I can almost guarantee you that wasn't a Trop staffer. Now, I am not "starved" for attention and was not trying to garner it with the tweet. I've had a strong irritation towards announced attendance for a long time. I am a big Troy supporter and my tweets reflect. Please feel free to peruse my profile (or even give a follow ) @scottwatkinstu. Along with the Trop, I cover Sun Belt football at forgotten5.com. I know I'm just plugging myself now but I believe in full transparency. I think that covers it all. Go Troy! Now if you want to talk football I am super down. This NMSU game is really going to be something. Hey, I'm a darn old guy so forgive me for being confused about the basis of this piece. Who gives a "tinkers d--b" about whether it was 28,896 or 28,689 or whatever the numbers? The ONLY way to have a reasonably accurate accounting of "attendance" is TICKETS SOLD! You can't count an empty seat as not having an occupier as long as hunger, thirst and Mother Nature exist in stadiums. So they announced a "sell out" and "record crowd" and its taken as a NEGATIVE? Seriously! Do they give a prize for "largest attendance, do they give attaboys? For the sake of all that's holy, worry about something important. I gave away free tickets as did a lot of folks. Hell was happening to good people in Florida that day and we are worrying about whether the seat in section 110, row 5, seat 13 was actually being used since it was unoccupied at the time a fan decided to snap a photo. Give me a break! Go Trojans, let's fill the Vet again next game!👍🏼

I've not missed a home game since 2002, Saturday was the largest home crowd to ever be in Veterans Memorial Stadium. I don't care how they count it or if it was accurate. I have a nice canvas on my wall of the Miss. State game and it's a nice 3rd place to both ASU crowds. Without question, Sat. was the largest crowd in history. REAL News ⬆️

I post Troy related tweets daily and this is honestly the only negative I think I've ever tweeted. So, despite the "you're digging and reaching to find a negative about Troy" narrative bestowed upon me, understand that I just made an observation. This was not a "big deal" tweet that was meant to send a negative message to all about Troy. I had no plans to actually do anything journalistic about this attendance figure. I was not being nitpicky about the attendance figure, either. If I was this kind of person, I'd be tweeting about Troy's attendance number WEEKLY. I simply just didn't believe it was a record crowd. By the way, figuring out the actual attendance is very possible. Teams are beginning to do it more and more now.

You have the right to your 'opinion' Troyguy, but having been to many home games for the past 5 decades, I can tell you that I have never seen as many fannies in Vet as I did last Saturday evening. I was at the Marshall game when it was the largest crowd, then the Missouri game when it broke the record, then the Alabama State game a dozen years back almost had biggest crowd, five years ago Mississippi State and now ASU again. Just understand that unless you have a 'history' of being in the stadium and seeing all the 'warm bodies' including those standing in the concession lines (which had the longest lines I can ever remember), the bathrooms, aisles, boxes, and all around the perimeter of the stadium, there is no way on earth we didn't have a 'record crowd'. We can respectfully debate the actual numbers, but there is no debate that we had the most folks ever to watch a Troy home game in the history of 'the school we love'! To your point, there is no doubt that schools embellish their attendance numbers, Troy has been guilty of that as well, but take this old guys word that we did have record attendance in the Vet on Saturday. As a side note, I hope we can argue this point after additional future home games, especially when we have the new enclosure complete and ready for Boise State to come to town. THIS IS A GOOD PROBLEM TO HAVE FOR TROY!!!
Go TROY!

Obviously we need to fire the guy in charge of counting every individual that comes into the stadium.
That's what we do on a message board is fire people when we're unhappy, correct?
