I had the pleasure of attending the scrimmage today. A few things stood out. I did not see Jamarius Henderson but I heard later on that someone had been suspended from the team with a chance to return. My feed cut out during that segment, but I think they were referring to Henderson. If not, someone correct me. The biggest playmaker of the day was #15 Damion Willis from EMCC. He has been on since he arrived and made some incredible catches today. He is going to be way better than expected. The offensive line played very, very well today. Not sure what that means in this type of situation, but hopefully we can enjoy an improved run game in the fall. Anderson got most of the RB snaps with the 1s and was a force. He plays with a ton of physicality. The QBs looked really good today with Trey Eafford and Richard Hallman making some nice catches.

Henderson is suspended - did not break rules, rather did not live up to the standards at Troy per CNB - who has the skinny?

Saw this during the press conference. Coach said he was "suspended with a chance to return". Which I took as he may just need an attitude adjustment, remember how we do things here, and reminded or being accountable type of thing.
Basically "straighten up, or ship out" we do things a certain way here at Troy and either you buy in or you bail out.

The guy transfers then sits out the mandatory year and I assume all the spring and summer work outs and is on a loaded offense on a team with high expectations....I hope he figures out the greater good for others will benefit him as well.....I have no idea what he has done but the greater good is first adhering to the policies of your superiors

He's still on the roster and still has his Troy stuff pinned on twitter so I suspect it's not one of those "maybe you can come back next year if you get your act together" suspensions. Hopefully he's learned whatever lesson he was supposed to learn and can play some this season. Not sure if he'll fit into the Boise State game plan though.

I asked Neal Brown after his presser about Henderson further, he declined to comment...
As far as scrimmage goes, all three QBs looked excellent and made some really nice throws. I dont think there's much that offense won't be able to do, especially when Chunn is 100% healthy. That group of receivers is incredible, just so much depth at every spot. Wills looked to be the best of the bunch today and Brown said that he's made huge plays in every scrimmage they've had since spring.
Really thought Marcus Jones had a chance to make an impact early (I also cover Enterprise High so I've seen plenty of him the last cpl years) but was surprised to see him get so much work with the 1's in the scrimmage. He looked good and both the DC and Brown were very high on him. When I had my one-on-one with Brown after the presser, he said that Marcus will be a "starter" in the nickel. He said that he isn't playing nickel-back at all but would rather play one of the corner spots in the nickel, which means Brown more than likely would move to nickel (Im assuming, should have followed up with that) and he expects Jones to be the punt returner. He made a pretty spectacular return on a punt today. One of the coaches excitedly kept yelling "we've got a new toy, back there! we've got a new toy, back there!" after that return.

Sad to see this. This young man could definitely help us but one thing you will never hear me complain about is discipline and a coach setting standards and then to!lowing through on those standards. Hopefully he learns from this but if he doesn't, see ya. I am more and more impressed with NB and the discipline and standards he has set.

Henderson is just bat$h!+ crazy - he's freaky good but capable of disrespecting anybody and anyone - anytime. He will have to learn to keep those emotions in check as it relates to coaches, staff, etc. - otherwise - he won't be playing - just my observation

After what I saw yesterday i'm not concerned with a guy that can't make up his mind whether he wants to be a part of this team or not. It would be great to have him out there, but there's something special brewing inside of VMS.

It would be great to have him out there, but there's something special brewing inside of VMS. I believe too and as far as this young man is concerned the humbling himself is the part I hope he gets. For while all of us know that he can, could, and probably would contribute to this team......That is not the important part...For his own good and all those he comes in contact with in the future...It is about life beyond a game...All of us have seen young people destroy their opportunity for a good life by not just bad choices but PRIDE and not in the good way....How many of us older guys wished we had figured that out a little earlier in life.. I wish and yes pray for him to grow in that way......That will make him a better citizen and and better man and just maybe a chance to add to this special chance at a season...However MEGA KUDOS to coach for his standards They alone makes TROY a winner for his players future lives

Going to be so disapoonting not to see the full stable of rb's if he dont straighten up. The stable will still be full. Jordan Chunn Josh Anderson Jabir Frye-Daughtry BJ Smith The last two on that list have as much or more speed than Henderson.

Also really thought the freshmen (#s 20 and 25) showed lots of potential as well! But, from what I've seen ... Henderson is a next level type talent. We would for sure be better with him in the rotation. Hope it works out for this young man ... and for Troy.

Is this the problem? Sure did want to see him in action.

I've always found it amazing that a kid can have a wonderful God given talent that could make his life forever financially secure but he can't find the common sense to get out of his own way! What a possible waste! Hoping he has a talk with himself and realizes this may be his best chance in life to be totally successful, but it's only a chance. He needs Troy, Troy doesn't necessarily need him!

The scrimmage was so fast paced, the weather was very comfortable and this team looked great. I do believe we could see the best squad to ever don Trojan uniforms this season. Hope we can get things started off on a positive note in Boise, can't believe were just 19 days away!!!
