Do you care what Jacksonville State does?
There are a few people at Jax State that talks about the rivalry with Troy. But I wonder why Troy would care since you guys are FBS and Jax State is FCS. So is this just a "days gone by" rivalry or is there still one?

I would like to see this series renewed, but the word was Jax St admin wanted to have home & home games or nothing.

It used to be intense but I guess South Alabama is the one now.

I know when I was at Troy when we flushed a toilet it went to the drinking fountains at Jax St. Whuppin Jax St., it wasn't just a saying, it was what Troy did

The Jax State rivalry was our Auburn vs Alabama. As a kid, I remember it being a really big deal. As the years pass, I feel like it will be forgotten. In the 90's, Troy understood the positives that having a D1 football program would bring. South Alabama also made that realization recently and have become our rival.

I would like to see this series renewed, but the word was Jax St admin wanted to have home & home games or nothing. If this is true, it indicates the Jax St admin is as inept as their football team was back when we owned them. I'm open to correction if I'm wrong, but I understand that NCAA rules prohibit a FBS team from playing a FCS at the FCS site. If I'm correct, we couldn't have a home and home with them even if everybody in the state wanted it.

Jax State is an FCS school.
We shouldn't concern ourselves with the happenings or the banter from an FCS school. Look forward, not back.

I would as well. Technically a home game for TROY.

I would rather play Jax State than Alabama State as a lower conference out of conference game.

I was a youngster during the "WHUP JAX STATE" days so I don't have that hatred down inside me. I like them, had friends on that staff a few years ago, so I liked them a little more back then. I do NOT want to play them though. They have too much talent and could pull off an upset at any time, just like Bama and the Aubs wont play Troy.

I even heard Hartwell say before he left he wouldn't schedule them for that reason. Very, very little difference in a top FCS program and mid major. App St and Ga Southern proved that when they moved up and North Dakota St proves it every year

If we've gotten to the point where we won't schedule a team like Jam St because we're afraid to lose, then I'm ashamed to be a Trojan.

So is this just a "days gone by" rivalry or is there still one? Days gone by. Just one of those nostalgic, passionate memories of that football lore that (old) Fans appreciate. Of more immediate concern to Trojans are dates in Boise, Baton Rouge and another 6 or so conference game dates. Those Whuppers up in NE Al might be more concerned with their 9/9/17 date in Atlanta vs the Ga Tech Yellow Jackets. Could be an epic win for the 'Cocks. But don't count on it.

1. At this point, there is more in it for Jax State to try and beat us than for Troy to beat them. If Jax State were to move up to FBS and become independent or something, similar to Liberty, then it would be a different story. 2. Playing Alabama State is basically a guaranteed win, and they will would likely bring more fans than Jax State. They're still our third-largest crowd ever. 3. Troy will not travel to Jax State, so this automatically makes Jax State leave the table.
I would like to see us battle for the Ol' School Bell again, but it won't happen while they're in FCS. Besides, I'm satissfied with our Battle for the Belt with South Alabama currently... it's beginning to generate some buzz.

I want to clarify my comment. If JSU were to make the move to D-I, I would love to play them, but as long as they have the benefits of 1AA, it's a no win situation.
Just saw where the Aubs Scheduled UMass for 2020, impressive.
