I'm just thankful some of you don't run the athletic department. The Troy athletics ship would run aground. We'd be ULM 2.0.

Critiquing players performance or coaches is perfectly acceptable. Coaches get paid to perform and players get free school to perform. Neither is above being critisized when they don't perform. The line is crossed when either start receiving death threats, cursed at or name calling. Troy is not even in the same league as some bigger schools to nastiness. As long as it is a civil discussion on stats and performance, there is nothing wrong with it. Athletic scholarship is based on coaches believing you can do the job and they are one year renewable scholarships. If you can't do the job, the coach can refuse to renew that scholarship. My daughter was on the Millenial Scholarship. She had to have a certain ACT score to receive it and then she had to maintain a certain GPA to keep it. Both are performance based.

As for Denison, he slashed .322/.398/.495 in 2016 with seven homers and 37 RBIs in 2016. Don't you think his lackluster start to 2017 could've been associated with the wrist injury that ultimately ended his season? The wrist is one of the most vital parts of a baseball player's swing. We all know how great Freddie Freeman is, but when he hurt his wrist in 2015 he wasn't the player he was in the season prior or in the years after. Injuries are part of the game, and Cofer did a serviceable as a replacement-level guy. But that is what he is. Not an everyday player. however, no one on the roster can replace the production and influence of a healthy Joey Denison. No one should criticize anyone affiliated with Troy Athletics, based on the reaction of some on this board.

So, we had one injury to a really good player and they ended up this bad. I guess I just thought they were going to be better. I haven't had a chance to look at all the stats and analyze, but didn't we have good pitching last year. What happened to those guys? Are the JUCO players that are transferring in better than the freshmen coming in?

They really weren't bad. They won a lot of games. They were inconsistent; they lost games they should have won and they weren't competitive in some others. In other words, they were just like the vast majority of college teams out there with good talent but inconsistent performance.
