Great wins today for men and women's team against UT Arlington!! The women keep on rolling. Hopefully this is the kind of win the men can build some momentum from!
Go Trojans!

Sadly, I had a funeral to attend today and missed the Women's game. I did, however, make the Men's game...my first TROJAN BB game ever...and man, was it fun! I'm not a big BB fan (obviously) but I can tell you, if we move the ball well and our shooters are on from outside, it'll be tough to beat us. If, however, we are cold from beyond the arc, we are in trouble. The absence of a legitimate big man inside means we have no true second option if the three point game is off. My wife and I had a blast, and while this was our first BB game, it won't be our last.

Women performed well and are keeping the momentum they have built. Men are continuing to improve and we see just how good this team can play when Wesley and Jordon are both on fire.

Well, at least the winning will raise awareness and bring more people out to watch these teams. The trade-off is how quiet it gets when they do get Ws... We will be fine. But it will take a while for the fanbase to be excited after years and years of flat out stinky seasons. A two game win streak in a 500 year will not do it. Last nights game underscores that the recent teams have good talent but maybe it is not being managed and honed in the most efficient way for victory?

From what I saw, the players played, and quite well I might add, I never even noticed the coaching staff because I was watching a team living up to their potential. Makes a world of difference.

So when we win it's only the players....how exactly does that work?
To me it's both the players and coaches win or lose because all are part of the same team. So if anyone is going to criticize coaches when we lose, shouldn't you praise them when we win? Especially a big game like yesterday.
Just my $0.02

I did not fact check... but Jeremy Wise tweeted out that both UTA's men's and women's teams were both top 50 RPI teams. Pretty impressive wins for each.
I had to miss the games yesterday (out of town) but i hope to make the men's game on monday night.

It very well may be the best basketball I've watched in Trojan Arena.

I'm with Hemi, no doubt it was the best day Trojan Arena has ever seen. In fact the first period of the womens game was the best 10 minutes of hoops in Trojan Arena. This season has a lot of potential, we have room for you on the bandwagon. Huge game tonight, tip off at 7 and $1 covers ticket, hot dog and a drink. I dare you to find a better deal anywhere!

Texas state did a great job of slowing down the game. They didn't cross half court until 21 on the shot clock and took shots around the :05 mark. That's not our game. Throw in the fact that rarely any team (not just Troy) has a huge win then 48 hours later they have to play to the same level... results usually aren't great.

Throw in the fact that rarely any team (not just Troy) has a huge win then 48 hours later they have to play to the same level... results usually aren't great. I feel like that's an excuse. Texas State, just two days ago, played a road game at USA and lost in OT. Then over the next 48 hours, had to turn right back around, drive to Troy, begin prepping for Troy, and play Troy. Trust me, they had it a whole lot worse than Troy did. If Troy is a well-coached team, then they could adjust to opponents that change up the tempo of the game. This wasn't a surprise for Cunningham and company... this is how Danny Kaspar has been running his basketball teams since he was coach at Stephen F. Austin... slow, methodical, and limiting possessions. Texas State has 7 losses, so apparently 7 other teams figured out how to adjust to it. So why didn't Troy? It's also a bad sign when Troy is offering $1 tickets w/ a free hot dog and drink for a men's basketball game. Troy lost money with that deal as a way to get more fan interest. Fan/student interest has been so low, and attendance has been so bad the past couple of seasons, that the admin has to throw out a deal like that to get people to come watch Troy. And the attendance still wasn't very good with that offer, which is telling. I'm a Sports Management/Admin graduate, and I understand that the $1 deal is a great marketing concept to get people from Troy and the surrounding areas to come out to a game to try and get more fan interest generated, but generally you aren't going to gain those fans when they watch Troy lose. After 4 seasons of the same old same old, when is everyone finally going to realize that we have bad coaching?

You hit the nail on the head that last 4 years. We never adjust to what the other team is doing and scheming against Troy. We do not adjust, just keep chucking up threes. Not the players fault.

We drew bigger crowds in Sartain when were D2. No student excitement, no fan excitement. Winning gets students and fans excited....see football this season. Coach has to go. Four years, zero improvement. Only way his record is barely better this year is a joke of a OC schedule, D2, NAIA, Ivy League, and those powerhouse Al St and AL A&M.

I see maybe 4 more wins on the schedule if we play ok. Maybe we get a upset somewhere along the way. Unfortunately we only play ULM and App state once and they are the 2 worst teams in the conference this year so far... USA is 3rd worst and we still got 1 more game with them, but we already lost to them once this year and I don't recall Cunningham having ever beat them?

Arkansas state coach just said Troy has the most talented team in the SBC by far. Doesn't understand why we are 2-3 in league.... Hmmm Acceptable reasons by the board: Players didn't execute, bad officiating, missed free throws, dribbling out of bounds, traveling calls, long flight, long bus trip, bad pre-game meal, girlfriends, wrong pre game music, addidas shoes instead of Nike Unacceptable reasons: Phil Cunningham

As the Ark St. coach said, Troy does have tremendous talent, which comes from great recruiting. Our Conference losses have been so close and the team is giving excellent effort. Let's hold off on giving up on the season until it's over. There shows to be significant improvement over last years squad and we have a lot of Conference games remaining in the season.
Just one man's opinion....
Go TROY!

Don't see this movement in the right direction or improvement Coach C's record at Troy 2013-14: 11-20 (6-12) 2014-15: 10-19 (5-15) 2015-16: 9-22 (4-16) 2016-17: 10-9 (2-3)

Here are some of our 10 wins: D2 school, NAIA school, Ivy League school with 8-15 record last year, Chicago St 4-10 when we played them, AL St, AL A&M, IL St (losing record last year). Our only three good wins against decent teams are GA St (off year), Hawaii and UT-Arlington. Schedule was favorable from the start.
