9-4? Have we lost a game I didn't know about? I hope you don't mean the bowl game, because the record is going to be 10-3 afterward.

Hoping everyone has a great bowl experience in Mobile. Unfortunately there is no way I can attend the game. Driving 8 to 9 hours on Christmas Eve is just not going to be an option. Go Trojans and route them on for me David, if it takes you 8-9 hours to drive to Mobile you need to have your Subaru tuned up!:-) Refering to the drive back on Christmas Eve. Traffic will be horrible

The great thing about 2016 we no longer have to drop our feet through the floorboard and power our cars Flintstone style. All you have to do is get in sit down, put on some talk radio and a few hours later...presto you have arrived!! It's right next to magic! I mean I've never heard somebody say after sitting on there couch for three hours..."man that couch just wore me out"! Shouldn't be that much different in a car. But that comes from a guy who is on the road about 3-4 hours everyday. Driving has never been much of a big deal to me. I get conflicts with schedule but if it's just drive time...put your big boy pants on, have a seat in your car and come on!!

Traffic will be horrible Well, I stop driving 10 and 75 years ago once I get to 19/27 past Tallahassee. I go to Capps - Perry - Chiefland - Ocala. That's about 51/2 hours with little traffic. Try it! It's one hour to Mobile!

But it's not one hour from Tallahassee to mobile sorry. Takes me three hours to get just to Tallahassee six hours to Pensacola. I would love to go to the game, but the day just doesn't work. I have family obligations on Christmas Eve also

I wasn't the one who called but he was told no rooms. We made it into the Hampton with the band. Got four of us going. We, and the band, are in the downtown Holiday Inn. Save

Even though the date is not good for us for them even more difficult...hoping we do bring quite a few and are visitors because going to look horrific on TV if Ohio is on that side

Date is a disaster and it's a shame. I can understand Ohio not being excited about flying back on Christmas Eve What? Are you saying you cant make it to the game? I can't make the game due to the date but it's worse for Ohio. Athens is not a easy place to get to and its not really close to a major airport. They didn't travel well to NO and this might be worse. It's a shame. Friday game, two days before Christmas. Could be worse. MTSU is playing in Hawaii on Christmas Eve homershake

No, from US TO MOBILE is one hour making your drive about 61/2-71/2 hours to Mobile depending on your pedal push. Traffic can change that. Merry Christmas my friend!

When I was attending Troy I went that way, but now with the speed limit 70 on the interstate it's faster. Much of 19-27 is still 55 mph and it it's raining it's a dangerous road. Those log trucks wear grooves into the road that make tire track water hazards. I've had my car hydro plane more than once in them. They also clock you by airplane in Perry. Got a ticket for 72 in a 55 flamingmad

I am disappointed that we will not be able to go to Mobile. My family has eagerly anticipated the return of a bowl trip. But, there is just no way have Christmas in Shelby Gap, Kentucky and attend the Dollar General Bowl. My daughter loves the Trojans but she loves her NaNa more. The good news is that we should reach NaNa's house in time to watch the game on ESPN.

Never seen many police giving tickets due to the rural setting and less traffic. I think they know folks are trying to avoid 75 and let you travel if you are driving safe. I've seen them going the same thing.

Hotel Options Downtown,
The Admiral- on the Mardi Gras Parade Route, has a balcony. Is a Hilton Hotel, remodeled last year and I stay there during Mardi Gras...Love this hotel, great bar and two restaurants, not too big so limited waits on elevators and you can use and get Hilton points. Short distance to team hotel, two blocks from Dauphin Street.
Hampton Inn, On the parade route with balconys - across the street from Team Hotel
Battle House, On parade route - nicest hotel in Mobile with a price to prove it
Cadlewood Suites, One block off of the parade route and Bienville Square
Holiday Inn, On parade route, next to the Hilton Admiral Hotel - nice hotel used to stay here during Mardi Gras, long wait for elevators if crowded, two blocks from Dauphin Street.
Quality Inn Downtown, Kind of a dive, packed during Mardi Gras, big no frills hotel on parade route, doors open to the outside, three blocks from Dauphin Street.
Riverview, Team Hotel Sold Out
Malaga Inn, Historic small Inn, I tell my out of town guest to stay here, very quaint with historic furniture, comfy beds and a great bar, is located on the parade route and two blocks from Dauphin St.
Fort Conde Inn, Historic Inn, located in Historic Ft. Conde Village, newly renovated a couple of years ago. Just down the street from the parade route and the new Mardi Gras Park, two blocks from Royal Street and 4 blocks from Dauphin Street.
Maybe these will give some of you an idea of where hotels are located etc. There really are no bad hotels downtown among the ones listed above. The Quality Inn would be my last pick, but at under $75 a night might be a bargain. Shoot me a PM if you have any questions on restaurants, hotels, bars etc. My family has lived in Mobile or the area since 1819 and I love it here, and I want you to have the best experience possible. GO TROY!!!

Word is Montgomery and Mobile bowls fought over bowl selection this year... Both wanted Troy vs Toledo and Neither would give in. Montgomery had MAC first pick and took Toledo, so Mobile got mad and use their pick to get Troy.

Someone please holler if you see bowl shirts available anywhere. I know it's early, but nothing at Screentech or the bookstore online so far. Gonna keep checking.
I'll get one from the Dollar General bowl website if I have to, but hoping for something better than what they have.
