As of this week, heading into the final Saturday of the regular season, as many as six Sun Belt teams could go bowling. Most of the Bowl projections that I've seen, have the Belt penciled in for six. This is assuming that South Bama and ULL win their final game.
All of the projections have TMTDM headed to Mobile for the Dollar Tree Bowl. But, a loss this weekend would put the Fightin' Levi Browns in the Johnny Williams Bowl.

I currently have hotel reservations in TWO cities for TWO nights ... Montgomery is not one of them. A bowl game there is less than half my normal home game driving time so not sure of the need for a hotel.

If the Belt does have 5 or 6 teams qualify for a bowl bid, with 4 Belt guaranteed slots, I am wondering if the possibility exists that due to the lack of overall qualifying teams, if Troy would be considered for a bowl game outside the four Sun Belt bowls? It would seem to me that IF we win our final game against GA Southern, and go 10-2 and are co-champs of our Conference, there may be an appetite for making an offer to our Trojans for a slot where another conference is unable to fill their obligation.
There will be several bowls in that category and if any of those bowls have a payout that would be attractive for Troy and the Conference, it may make sense to take another offer and would give us a chance to play a game against a more competitive team which could help with recruiting.
Just sayin.....
Go TROY!

Just sayin..... Go TROY! The Sun Belt now has 5 ties ins (New Orleans, Dollar General, Arizona, Camellia, and the Cure Bowl) not 4, but I agree with your thinking. If we have 6 teams available I would personally love to see Troy in a bowl game against an SEC opponent.

Any indication what the Team Hotel would be in Mobile? Renaissance Riverview Plaza was the one last season and I think the one for the Sun Belt when we last went. I've booked there.

I'm telling you, a 10-2 Troy is worth something. There will be strings pulled behind the scenes by Karl and company to get us in a bowl none of us are thinking about. I'm going out on a limb and making plans to be in Nashville, Memphis or Charlotte. As for Charlotte, remember the ACC said "we will not play our conference championship game in North Carolina because we think everyone in the world should use any toilet in the world and it's not fair that North Carolina makes people use the toilet of their gender" or something along those lines. Anyway, with that being said... HOW CAN THEY ALLOW A MEMBER OF THE ACC TO PLAY IN THE VERY STADIUM THEY PITCHED A FIT ABOUT??? Troy vs SEC Belk Bowl, Charlotte NC... BOOM!!!

Don't you all know that CNB would be pumped if Troy wound up in a bowl game against Kentucky! That would be awesome. We won't have to worry about a Louisiana Tech issue of holding out for a better bowl and then being left at the alter with no game to participate in as there will not be enough 6-6 teams to qualify in 2016 so we should be safe in that regard. First things first, we would have to win our game Saturday, go 10-2 and be co-champs in the Sun Belt before any other situation can play out. We'd also need ULL to beat ULM and South Alabama would have to win Saturday as well. It would be critical for 6 Belt teams to qualify to become Bowl Eligible and then something special for our Trojans could become a possibility. The other unknown is if the bowl committee would allow a USA team to be bowl eligible since 2 of their wins are against FCS teams. We should know more by next week at this time.
Go TROY!

A waiver to permit USA to play in a bowl with 2 FCS wins has already been granted. There is a thread discussing that action in the General Conversation forum, if you're interested in the thoughts of the regulars on the issue.
