We're looking for some suggestions on a hotel for the GA Southern game. I'm having a hard time reconciling reasonably priced with not creepy. Also not terribly familiar with the area. We don't need to stay in Statesboro necessarily if there's something reasonable a bit to the south (driving up from just over Tallahassee on the Georgia side of the line). Any suggestions are appreciated.

Two years ago when we played at Georgia Southern, we decided to stay on Hilton Head Island, SC for the weekend. It is about an hour and a half further away from home, but better choices than Statesboro and less expensive than Savannah. Trying a different hotel property this year, Beach House, A Holiday Inn Resort, Hilton Head Island.
IF you are wanting something between home and Statesboro ... checkout availability in Dublin, Georgia. Some of those properties are older, but it has about the only options along your travel route near Statesboro. HOPE that helps a little!

I highly recommend staying in Savannah and then driving over for the game.

WE're staying at a Hampton Inn in Vidalia, GA. 30 minutes from Statesboro. Very reasonable prices.

WE're staying at a Hampton Inn in Vidalia, GA. 30 minutes from Statesboro. Very reasonable prices. I was going to suggest Vidalia as well. When I worked for Hibbett as a district manager, I covered both the Vidalia and Statesboro stores and stayed in Vidalia a good bit because as stated the prices are reasonable.

OMG! You CANNOT talk about games out of schedule! umass is next, then app st! What are you people doing!?! I hear you, and know where you're going with that, but since the discussion was about accommodations, which frequently must be made in advance, and not the game, we should be safe. Yeah, we're gonna go with that. Helpful?

Some really good and helpful suggestions. Thank you! Was told no to Savanah for this trip by the voice of reason I'm married to, though if we had a few extra days off we might could have.

We will travel the backway (45 minutes) through Bluffton to Savannah Historic District for SUNDAY Lunch before heading home. Thinking The Pirates' House for that meal.

I'm in. I have 4 heading over Thursday morning. I've never been to Savannah, so I figure I would make a mini-vacation out of it.
