Sun Belt Bowl Tie-Ins
Highest ranked team from AAC, C-USA, MAC, MW & Sun Belt will play in a New Year’s Six bowl.
The Sun Belt doesn’t have a true pecking order. The bowls matchups are based on best possible games and geography.
1. R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl vs. Mountain West 2. Dollar General Bowl vs. MAC 3. Raycom Media Camellia Bowl vs. MAC 4. AutoNation Cure Bowl vs. American 5. NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl
I THOUGHT THE CHAMPION went to New Orleans, WTH???

So the Dollar General Bowl is what used to be the GMAC/Mobile Bowl? And yes it has been that way for a few years. Sad that we haven't been anywhere since 2010 but times they are a changing!

Which means we could end up in the Camellia Bowl NO MATTER WHERE WE END UP!!!!

Which means we could end up in the Camellia Bowl NO MATTER WHERE WE END UP!!!! We are dang near guaranteed that bowl if we get to six wins. If we are 11-1, we will probably still be in Montgomery.

TMTDM could have finished 12-0 this year and ended up in Johnny Williams Bowl...and that not bad thing either. Actually it good thing, a really good thing. Not get Ho wrong with what he say. Ho love to pound cool refreshing alcohol in New Orleans all day and night. He also make huge wager at Fairgrounds and they love Ho there. Wherever we go, we need huge crowd AND NOT 5,000, Ho say like 20,000.

Ho, I don't disagree, but our bowl game should be two fold, great opportunity to win a championship and a reward for an outstanding season. I'm not sure what Montgomery offers in the way of reward and fan experience. I know what the others have to offer. Will be wherever they are going, just have a pecking order if I AM EVER ASKED!!!😋😋😉😉

Guys if we should be lucky enough....and that is where preparation meets opportunity...but it will take some luck even be it just not too bad of injuries....but if we go 11-1 and Western Michigan does not get in to a New Years Bowl ....guys that Dollar General is going to be H U G E as the Donald would say...and we would have a great opportunity

Of course I'd prefer New Orleans, but of the bowls available Dollar General is our best bet. It's also a good day for travel, going to be nice and cold, and it's the bowl currently projected by ESPN. I will be so disappointed if we end up in the Camellia Bowl (unless the wheels come off our team at 6-6 or something) but plan to be at the bowl if at all possible.
Dollar General would be a ball though - especially if it's against a strong MAC team like Western Michigan. The 2010 game against CMU remains my absolute favorite TROY game I attended in person. The crowd was electric, the game was cold, the weather was bitter cold. I've never been to another TROY game quite like it.

100% prediction, Troy will be somewhere 'tween 5-7 or 12-1. Let's see how it shakes out.

Family activities and work obligations on Christmas Eve Eve make it impossible for us to travel. The Saturday before, though, is golden and we could get to any of the three played that day. Regardless it's awesome we even get to seriously have this coversation again. I'll be watching wherever they are.

I can see App, assuming we qualify for a bowl, being in Montgomery again simply because we packed out the town last year - first FBS bowl and all. It seems the final choice is based on which team the sponsor thinks will bring the most fans. The dollar speaks more loudly than the record IMO.

I agree with App in the bowls without clear tie ins just league tie ins THE BUCK STARTS AND STOPS THERE...who will bring the most fans....to the Alabama bowls be in it Dollar Genital or Chlamydia both would go for Troy due to fan numbers in seats but Chlamydia may want to pass on us since would not bring as many to town due to proximity.....I know the connection and all but many would come from home for game day....either way even talking about it again is fun...

If Troy wins the conference I don't see them choosing the Camelia Bowl automatically. I think there are two questions to answer:
1). Which Bowl pays more (Decision to go to GMAC Bowl over New Orleans Bowl in 2009) 2) combination of trip fans will enjoy and travel well to. I will always hope for New Orleans, great trip, indoor stadium in Dec, and plenty to do. Montgomery isn't a dream trip for fans although we woukd pack the stadium. Arizona will not be a well attended game and Mobile if on Christmas Eve wiould prevent me from attending as well as other fans I'm sure. Let's win the Conference and pick the one we want. Go Troy

It'll all be decided by who gets the most money -- conference, teams, city, bowl committee, and mostly TV. And the money increases proportional to the rankings of the teams involved, how close to New Years, and mostly TV audience

I heard Johnny Williams speak a couple weeks ago here in Troy. He said "the way Troy is playing, we will not get to host Troy in Montgomery this year". Made the point they get 3rd choice of Sun Belt and 1st choice of MAC

I am thinking we end up here Goodyear Cotton Bowl At-Large vs. At-Large AT&T Stadium Arlington, TX 1pm / ESPN I've thought the same thing and this could be the year, but unfortunately Boise St is back to being Boise St this year and they probably will be the highest ranked non power 5 conference team at the end of the season.

Considering this is the view from my office window, the Camellia Bowl would definitely be the easiest for me to go to....but how boring! I'd practically feel like I was going to work driving to it! lol
