TMTDM was embarrassingly dominant in '87. Went to every game, home and away including West Texas State and the infamous Vodka and Dr. Pepper Challenge.

I believe it was the Gulf Times from Dubai several years ago when they described Mahmud Singh from our satellite campus in Kuala Lumpur during his badminton match against heated rival International Islamic University of Malaysia. They said, "Mahmud was on fire today for the Trojans, he put his opponents away so quickly he has earned the title TMTDM or The Mighty Trojan Death Machine." I might be off on a couple of facts, but I am pretty sure that is where the name came from.

Who originated TMTDM? I forget. This is what I heard about the legend of TMTDM... The defense TROY used to put on the field was stout as most have discussed on here at various times. We were known for stingy defenses. Either a player or coach coined this phrase as a title for one of those stingy defenses. I'm unsure of the era but I want to say the 80s defenses. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I bet Mr Ho knows because Ho know!

Can't believe this was almost 30 years ago!! I really enjoyed this video. I am surprised it has not been posted before this. I also looked at the other videos on your Youtube channel from 1987 season. They were fun to watch as well. I was not a traditional student and didn't enroll at Troy State until I was 26 years old. Had I gone straight to college from high school I would have been at Troy State as a sophomore during the 1987 season. Oh, how I would have enjoyed that season if I had been there in person. Again, thanks for posting it.

(Although, it is rumored that young Norodom Sihamoni Hung from our Phnom Penh campus used to literally play matches to the death, retiring at the age of 21, having led over 56 different players to death. Thus earning the nickname of TMTDM. It was also rumored that a young Jack Hawkins spent two summers training with Hung. Could explain a lot. )

For a wishbone team I want you to look at some of the catches and speed of Titus Dixon and Greg Harris. They would have been deadly in a spread offense. Also look at the hands on the TE's Brent Roe and Mike Kelly. Mike Turk was a wizard at the wishbone but look at some of the throws that 5"7 qb threw. Defense was dominating. Watch HOF member Freddie Thomas throw himself airborne on the goal line stand against Valdosta St. Great team and some of the finest players and friends to ever don the cardinal, grey and black
