The truth about things usually garner these types of responses from the people that what to see things like they should be instead as they are. Digress. We will trudge forward. I just think we view things differently, but that doesn't make either of us right. Especially not you. I will agree even a blind squirrel stumbles across a nut once in awhile, it often just gets run over by the truck of reality. I am fine if you want to view Pike County as a utopia, just don't get upset when the vast majority of people don't see it through your rose tinted glasses.

Being a realist has little to do with being real. It has much more to do with being unapologetically insulting. It has zero to do with anything else. Generally, getting into a back-and-forth with you detracts from this board. I could continue to do it, but I choose to have a little bit more respect today. Enjoy your day.

Keep lying to yourself and others is disrespectful. But alas, time to March on.

There are pros and cons to any town. Here are the pros and cons to Troy from my perspective traveling 6 hours to get to that probably aligns with visiting fans also
Pros: Parking is reasonable and not a long walk to the stadium Campus is beautiful and affords you a leisurely stroll to see it The Vet really doesn't have a bad seat in it and is a charming stadium Traffic is pretty decent leaving the game Tailgating areas are friendly to opposing fans People are generally polite and friendly
Cons; Hotels. Not a great selection and the nice ones are booked or require two night stay forcing me to stay at the microtel in Ozark Restraunts are crowded after the game If you are flying not a easy or cheap trip Parking while reasonable can be difficult if you don't know where to look
Overall I would say most visiting fans have a good experience

Had to pay $20 to park in someone's yard then had a 25 minute walk to the stadium. Fans were rude, seats were lousy, they had my car blocked in at parking and we had to wait for the people to get there to move their car. I will take Troy any day over G-Town

But I remember that game. Had fun. Good road trip with the boys. Game got ugly in the 1st half. Damn Tebow.

I'm sure if the city of Troy were to lure in 15 brand new eating establishments, a dozen nice hotel chains, construct 34 new parking areas and reconfigure Troy Regional airport in to Hartsfield International, you will find something else to B**** about. Your constant complaining and nitpicking is ridiculous.

Cons;

Hmmm, Let me guess. Athens, Ga? Auburn, AL? Gainesville, Fl? Fayetteville, Ar? Oxford or Starkville, Ms? Jonesboro, AR? Boone, NC? Statesboro, Ga? Murphreesboro, TN?
Oh, now I get it! UAB and Birmingham have it all!! Lots of hotels, and one night minimum! Lots of uncrowded restaurants!! SouthWest flies there Whoopee! Park anywhere (and hope that your car's there when you return!!)

I really like Troy. I grew up in a town of 1,200 people, I like small towns. I made a observation of what I experience with hotels that also visiting fans do also. Your choices are not good after the Courtyard and Hampton and the Best Western wanted $138 a night last Sat. I can stay at the Microtel in Ozark for $54 and it's nicer than the Best Western. Troy can be a difficult trip for visiting fans if they fly or want a nicer hotel for under $100 a night. That's simply a fact. The ease of Gameday in Troy is wonderful but parking will be difficult to find for the visiting fan that doesn't know of the road behind the Arena that takes you there or TC parking lot. Been to different colleges on game day. I'll still take Troy any day and twice on Sunday

Issue with the area around the University is the majority (not all) of the people do not support or have a distain for the University, literally biting the hands that feed them. This is not right and frankly should be called out so it is pushed to change. Troy is what Troy is, a small town in the wiregrass of Alabama built in a US highway to the beach. Maybe I am a little harsh but the self righteous attitudes of the majority in the area are BS and it's sad because it brings my University down.

I just filled out a survey that was sent to me from the athletic department about my game day experience. It has a place to leave where you enter contact info and other comments. I'm sure the administration will be glad to contact you so that you can personally discuss your concerns with them.

Yep, cornhole posted his REAL alias and noted 1) PR announcer needs remedial instruction on basics of football, and 2) city of Troy needs a lobotomy and overhaul.

Troy is growing by leaps and bounds. This time next year there should be several new restaurants and things to do. With the nee developement with Publix and the additional retail spaces coming in there should really help turn Troy into more of a fun college town to visit over the weekend.
If you havent heard, CC5 is adding a sports bar/grill and a bowling alley. One of the theatres is going to have recliners...
Movin on up
