We find out how good we are when we play Southern Miss - the QB has broken Favre records - they are pretty good! We win that and every game after is winnable - something we could not say in the past 3 to 4 years. I'm optimistic we will be much better this year. While I'll agree so Miss has a talented QB, Troy does as well. Also, there will be far more at that position the week prior. There's no doubt the secondary will be challenged early and often, but I'm ready to see what's going to happen! Actually, when you compare sophomore years, Cox in '15 outperformed Mullens in '14. And that was with a less than stellar OL last year. Brandon threw 1 interception for every 3 Tds, while Mullens threw 1 pick for every TD his sophomore year. Brandon's passer rating was also higher. 138 to 133. If our OL gets better and with the addition of more skill players he could have a breakout Jr season also. So Miss does return Mullens, a very good OL and a 1,000 yard rusher but will miss two go-tos in Thomas and Martin who no doubt helped Mullins to the CUSA offensive player of the year in '15. This game could come down to defense, which hopefully, our stingy defense will pluck a few feathers and not let him stand in the pocket because he's not a proven scrambler having had negative yards rushing in 9 of 14 games last year. I'm sure they'll be favored but again, if our OL steps it up I like our chances.

After watching the scrimmage on Saturday, I have to say that TMTDM looks to be back, our Defense really does appear to be strong and I am hopeful that the offense can get in a rhythm early in the season and put some points on the board. No predictions from me but I do feel we should stack up well against the competition and get our share of wins and a bowl invitation.... Go TROY! I was impressed with the overall performance on Saturday and became even more impressed when Coach Brown said we didn't play a lot of guys that will be starters and it gave younger guys a shot at impressing them. I think we will be deep at several positions and a lot of our better players are young guys.

Speaking of the "R," he'll be making his return to the FBS ranks this season... gseagles.com/staff.aspx?staff=292GS will be an even bigger challenge, at the end of the season. If, for no other reason but familiarity...Go Trojans! Kirk Herbstreit (street?)(striet?) has predicted Ga Southern to be Sunbelt Champ. December 3rd could be veeeery interesting.

11-1 is very doable but we do play some tuff Belt teams and we AWAYS lose atleast 1 that we shouldn't.
DT84 would love but would love 8-4 also. I am not going to let a few losses get to me just because we are vastly improved.
That game last night nearly killed me. DT84 sure does hate southern piss.

Drop a very winnable game in Las Cruces. NMSt killed the votes we were getting in the polls that year. I lean towards the positive and would predict best-case every time. We're not sneaking up on anyone, at this point. A lot of our conference mates and others see us as being 'Troy' again. I plan on sitting back and enjoying this ride...where ever it may lead me...

Last night was the first game since the Miracle in Murfreesboro that I watched the last several minutes of a ball game rotating from a standing position to a kneeling position with my rally TROY hat turned backwards. I was a nervous wreck.

No game will ever replace The Miracle in Murfreesboro. 4th and 19 and Omar hits Ole' Smokey who somehow holds on to the ball. What a great evening. I still hate The MUTS. I hate them so very badly.

I was standing in the stands and as USM was driving with under a minute left, I couldnt help but think......same old TROY.....going to blow it. But this team is different, they dont fold, they have fire again. A great example is on PAT's they actually make an effort to try and block it. I dont know if we win out, but we are on the right track and it feels good to win again.

USM was suppose to be the 2nd most difficult team on our schedule this year. Any regular season loss from here would be a disappointment. 11-1 or bust!

USM was suppose to be the 2nd most difficult team on our schedule this year. Any regular season loss from here would be a disappointment. 11-1 or bust! We can certainly play with/beat any team remaining on our schedule ... if we prepare and play well! Also, I think every team on our schedule is capable of playing with/beating us! That's conference play. We have to be ready to go every week!! I do think the USM game was a big hurdle. Not just because they're a good team ... but especially because it came after a really tough/emotional game at Clemson. So, hopefully (and it appears to be so) the coaches have set an example of taking one game at a time ... take care of business this week!!! Looking forward to Saturday ... hopefully we'll have a great/loud crowd!!

11-1 talk is nice to hear after everything the program has gone through, but the prime directive is still to get to six wins, first and foremost. Lets not put the cart before the trojan horse, we still have a wall to rebuild, and there are still lots of good football teams left on the schedule. ARKST, APP, and GS in particular are still juggernauts, despite out of conference play by some. If we lose all three (don't think we will), we're still 8-4 if we clean up the rest. That would be a great year for Troy.

If you tell any of those players that they're an 8-4 team after the start to this season, you should be rightly told to jump in a lake! 12-1! Go TROJANS!!! icon_beavisnbutthead (I'm kidding)

They all hope to get better every game and they should and usually do, but some get better than others. That's why college football is so exciting.
