Following a walk off win yesterday, the Trojans completed the sweep today with a walk off wild pitch to score Trevor Davis from 3rd to win 3-2 in 12 innings. This team has shown a lot of heart and ability to win regardless of what happens.

A win is a win, a sweep is a sweep, but if the way things transpired over the weekend are to be the norm I will need to start bringing my Cardiologist to the games! Now let's Whup Jax State!!!!!

The fact this team struggled so much against a vastly inferior App State was not a good sign. There has been a lot of not-so-good signs about this season. Is it me, or does the talent level of the baseball team seem to have dropped? I know that there are quite a few underclassmen playing, but even in prior years the freshmen and sophmore players were pretty darn good. These past two seasons it seems like the talent level has dropped off, especially when it comes to hitting the ball. And as I write this, they just lost in extra inning to Jax State. Poor showing in extra innings I must say. Very bad hitting and very bad decision-making.

So you're basing your opinion on talent being down, by pointing out that they swept a conference opponent and lost in 16 innings to a 22-10 team that's most likely headed to s regional? That same team that they beat 10-0 a month ago at their place. How about the fact that they were down 6-1 in the 7th and fought to tie it, and they came back and tied it in the 11th as well. Are you aware of the fact that we are down 3 position player, 2 at one position? Are you confusing poor hitting with lacking they power we've had in the past? There's no doubt they have had their ups, downs, and mistakes, but they are likely playing their best baseball right now.

Not to mention that the umpires were horrendous.

Not to mention that the umpires were horrendous. Umpires/officials never cost you a ball game. Certain decisions may make certain situations more difficult, but the best teams find ways to overcome those perceived bad calls. Getting down 6-1 early and a couple of bonehead decisions on the base paths had more to do with Troy losing this game than outs/safes/balls/strikes.

Very bad hitting and very bad decision-making. 7-2 on the home stand, .588 winning percentage for the season and .500 so far in conference, currently in 4th place in the league with several winnable series coming up, second in the conference in team pitching, overcoming injuries and adversity to win games, not sure exactly what your expectations are. This team is performing above the expectations of anyone who truly understands college baseball. The future is also bright as we regularly start several freshmen and sophomores who will only get better at the plate as they see more college pitching! You also said, the past two seasons. You are aware, aren't you, that we finished second in the conference last year?

people can hate all they want, that win makes our sweep look better No it doesn't. App State's RPI is still hanging around in the mid to lower 200's, despite winning the series over USA. That's how bad App State has played this season. If Troy is somehow in the running for an at-large NCAA bid, Troy's sweep of App State isn't going raise any eyebrows on the NCAA Selection Committee, I can assure you.

Some give the football coach fits because he loses games to opponents no matter the who that opponent is yet some are also not happy if we sweep an opponent in baseball! Hummm, strange outlook since Troy doesn't control the quality of it opponents in either sport. To me, you play them all and if WE WIN. I'm happy! The NCAA is not going to give an At Large bid to a Sun Belt Conference team so we might as well get over it!

I'm happy they swept a bad team and didn't drop a game. What I'm simply stating is that the App State sweep doesn't help Troy's resume. The games against Alabama, Jax State, Samford, Mississippi State, etc are what help. And redwaver, I don't know why you say a Sun Belt team won't get an at-large bid. From 2004 to 2011, the Sun Belt had at-large bids. In 2013 we had THREE teams get at-large bids. The Sun Belt is currently the #9 ranked conference in baseball this season. So to say the Sun Belt teams don't get at-large bids makes no sense.
