Can't win giving up 49 points and scoring 21. Got a lot of work to do but awful recruiting the past several years is a lot to blame

Can't win giving up 49 points and scoring 21. That's a true statement right there.

We are playing a very solid NC State team. I think we did ok on OFF, need to do better on DEF.

Can't win giving up 49 points and scoring 21... That is so true! But still, I can't help but feel somewhat optimistic about this teams' prospects for the rest of the season. I see definite improvement over what I had become accustom to seeing over the last three seasons, so overall? I feel good. It is going to be a building year for us, so the ups and downs will be hard to take at times, but I think were going to see steady improvement throughout the rest of this year. Go Trojans!

Well, there we have it.
Could it have been better? Of course! It could have also been a whole lot worse. I think we're going to be okay this season. I saw alot of sparks on the sideline, and plenty of passion on the field.
It's going to be an interesting year, ya'll.

I'm going to stick to my 5-7 prediction.
Lord, I hope we win next weekend. That would be embarrassing, if we don't.

Dayes is a beast. NCSU was going to be a hard won, we all know that. They could go on to win the Atlantic, just depends on how others are. They'll beaut Louisville

If we struggle it could be a long year. They will need a confidence shot before the Badgers. Watching them now and they are big and physical

I'm very encouraged actually! I think we have a lot to build on. First game under a new coach and we really has some spirit and fought hard. The bone-headed stuff was really absent. Pretty disciplined team too, with penalties at a minimum. After this game, I imagine the coaches will have something to look at to make some immediate-impact changes. It won't be magic bullet stuff but..... Definitely encouraged. Proud of the team!!

They scored anyway a few plays later, but they had to work a little harder to do it.

For all the people fussing about how awful the defense is take into account a few things. NCSU dominated the time of possession 41:34 to our 18:26, in first downs 30 to 13 and forced two turnovers. We punted 8 times, 7 of those were 3 and outs while the other was only four plays. Was the Defense spectacular, no, not by any means, but the full burden of the game did not fall on their shoulders, they put the offense into great positions several times and stood strong with their backs against the wall when the last few year they would have just folded. There is a lot of potential on both sides of the ball but we are going through an almost complete rebuild of the program, look for the positives rather than say, "aww these kids are awful again," with out looking at the full picture.
GO TROY GO!!!

Agreed! How could you not see the improvements on defense? If this was last year it would have been 107 to 3. We are swarming the ball again!!! Surf Report:
Minimal (ankle high or less) surf. Semi glassy in the morning with ENE winds less than 5mph. Semi glassy/semi bumpy conditions for the afternoon with the winds shifting SE 5-10mph. The high will be 86 degrees and the low will be 72 degrees. Chance of rain 25%.

Running game and Silvers looked good. Defense continues to be plagued by poor play at the corners, but I think we actually looked better than last year and think we are moving in the right direction, we have to be patient and realistic. GO TROY!

Honestly believe our D is at least there and I with a lot of other folks feel better despite the lopsided final score. We had the bad punt and the turnover at the 16....hey I left several games thinking we stunk.... ....we lost to a team who's quarteebak went something like 23of 25 and they had one penalty and we turned it over effectively 2 times....well NC State played flawlessly or close to perfect ...so yes we will win some....still 5-7 6-6 area

I got the impression going into today's game that the biggest concern of the coaching staff was the defensive line. Having watched the game, I think the our biggest concern is the defensive line. We are young and relatively inexperienced up front on the defensive side and will need to mature there quickly to avoid disappointment down the road. I think we have the staff in place to facilitate that maturation.

I didn't go into this game expecting a win, but I wanted to see a improved team, and I did...
Last years team would have been losing 40-0 at halftime. We were in the game at halftime but just ran out of gas. NCSU is a solid football team and will likely do VERY well in ACC play.
Seasons early and if we can keep getting better every single week I think we could have a bowl game in our future.

Also not that it matters but our conference outside ULL has struggled tonight
The "great" Ga Southern lost 44-0 to West Virginia ULM lost 51-14 (after cutting game short due to storm) NMSU lost 61-14 to Florida Texas state is currently still playing but losing 35-10 to FSU

It would be interesting to know the number of players who played a down last night. I saw a lot of people getting experience on the field which will pay dividends later in the season. I went to sleep last night feeling good about what I SAW. If you were not at the game (do NOT derail this thread about why you were not), you were not able to view what was happening outside of the view of your computer screen. The future is bright...

I saw a sharp, focused and fundamentally improved team. They played together and played hard with a lot of intensity. I'll take that over a team that just shows up.
The OOC games to me are more of a scrimmage and a payday. It would be nice to slay a giant every now and then but don't let a loss to one get you down. Great days are ahead for this program. Go Trojans!!!!!!!
