Based on what we know about Coach Brown's philosophy on personal accountability, I would not expect to see him return.

Really hate to see this happen. I like Smooth on a personal and business level a lot. Hopefully he can do what is necessary to overcome this major set back and get things headed in the right direction wherever that may be. He's has done a lot for this program behind the scenes and was a valuable asset.

This a black eye considering his title. We need a solid hire here. Don't know if we could convince either one of these gentlemen to come but Reggie Hutchins or Derrick Moore would be excellent choices. Reggie I played with at Troy and is as fine a man as you get. Currently the Tallahassee and FCA rep for FCA at FSU and FAMU team chaplain. Derrick is a former Trojan grwat and NFL player. Currently chaplain at GT and you tube star for his preface speech before last years GT-Miami game. We need rock solid character in this position. I feel like NB will get the right guy

Let's let get into a discussion of whether or not doing stupid stuff defines if you are a "good" Trojan or not.

Let's let get into a discussion of whether or not doing stupid stuff defines if you are a "good" Trojan or not. "Do EVERYTHING The Right Way" -Chan Gailey. Team motto he instituted and was on our locker name badge. Mike Turk even talked about that in his HOF interview video. I have confidence with the changes NB has made that we will get a solid person in this position and I hope smooth can get his life back on track also.

I personally don't. Players are dealt with through rules set by the NCAA. Now, you have a "coach" that got caught with it and it's the worse thing in the history of the world? If the school decides to part ways with him, it's their decision, but as a second chance school, I find it somewhat hypocritical. Sorry to you and Coach Galey.

Now, I can agree that getting caught was irresponsible. He was stopped for being under the influence, so that leads me to believe that he had been drinking. If that's the case, you cannot tell me, in good conscience, tell me he's the only coach in America that drinks. Sorry...I'm not buying it. If he actually is, then fire him as an example to the rest of the country and put them on notice. Otherwise, I wouldn't take the moral high-ground because other coaches for a team you support may be drinkers too.

Driving under the influence is a DEADLY CRIME, and IF he is guilty of that CRIME, he should be punished. If his terms of employment include a clause regarding professional image or some sort of outlined policy then HE SHOULD BE dismissed. Has ZERO to do with whether he is a great Trojan or not. His work ethic should count for something. If he can be retained, disciplined and begin again, great. If not, so be it.

Absolutely, if you chose the profession of working with our youth then you are expected to live to a higher standard and to identify the fact that other coaches drink or smoke dope has nothing to do with this case. If they get caught, deal with it the same. You can't have a teacher/coach who says do as I say do, not as I do. I'm sure Smooth is a great guy but in this case with these charges made there are no excuses, especially the DUI. DUI is inexcusable. The life he might have taken could have been a son or daughter. College or not, teachers/coaches should live to a higher standard! We can't sit at our computers and complain about the undisciplined behavior of our athletes if the coaches are undisciplined as well. There's a time and place for limited alcohol consumption but never when it will effect the kids you are responsible for and NEVER behind the wheel of a vehicle in motion!!!

Not aware we are a official " second chance school" personally allowing all these second..and third chances is part of the reason we are where we are right now. And a coach caught with a illegal drug (don't care how many people smoke it, people do meth, heroin and cocaine to, it's all illegal) and you don't think its that big of a deal? Guess we need to give the guy caught with drugs and DUi a second chance, after all he is in charge of our players development and we are a "Second" chance school. What message does that send to our players and parents of recruits? Troy has a person using drugs and driving drunk in charge of our and our kids development and they gave him another shot. Why should I listen to Coach Brown say no drugs tolerated or send my son to play there. If that makes me or Coach Gailey or the players that played under him and Rick Rhodes hypocrits..so be it.

I'm of the crowd of no tolerance. Discipline was lacking in the past. I'm glad coach brown is standing tall...
3 cheers for the NEW Troy way!

Regardless of where you stand, Troy can't keep this coach and keep respect within and out of the program. It's the situation, not the person. If he gets a second chance then every player on the roster would have one free pass to get a DUI or get caught with illegal drugs and not get kicked off the team. Again it's not about the man it's about the situation and what's best for the program. Hope Coach (he is a good guy) recovers and gets another chance but for the sake of the program it can't be at Troy

After all the dealings in court are complete I'm sure the administration will sit down and make a decision on what course of action to take. Not the first person to get into trouble and each and every case must be handled on an Individual basis.
