Considering how big a turn around we had they might have gotten offers

Taylor Smartt is replacing Cloer. Honestly I'm not even sure where Cloer went. Wright has a connection to the coach at Georgia Tech and I'm sure it comes with an increase in salary. Seems like solid hires by Mullins as evidenced by the turn around on the field.

Hope we can get a male assistant coach like we had when Coach Hok was here. I've coached competitive softball and from experience the girls need a tough male presence. I have not seen a top program on the D1 level or ASA level win championships with a all female staff. 95% of the top programs also have male head coaches also. Baseball background is more critical than softball background. Look at Tim Walton at UF

I actually would love to have an experienced male pitching coach on the staff. Obviously, GA Tech was a step up, but I didn't know if it was them that left for better opportunities or they just found other jobs because they had to.
I am impressed with the turn around, don't get me wrong, but honestly all of the top hitters were new players, recruited by the old coaches. You can compare the 2014 and 2015 stats, and Phelps and Hartley were about the only two starters that had better years and contributed every day. Winter's average actually went down, but it was pretty much a totally new team. Affeldt had a much better year, but she was Freshman of the Year, so she was destined to good things early in her career anyway. I think she had some injuries and stuff in between the two great seasons. I am ready to see Mullins recruits and how she will develop pitchers that are not already the senior ace.

Hoping we can still recruit the west coast some. California is still the hot bed but Florida has caught up. I know Walton at UF was very heavy California for a while but he is slowly getting the majority of the players from Florida now. Recruiting, recruiting, recruiting.....and solid coaching can get us there
