The Trojans will be playing in Pensacola on February 20th, 21st, and 22nd. FYI: February 20th is also Gallery Night in Pensacola. What does that mean? On Gallery Night all of the streets in Downtown Pensacola are closed off for a family friendly street party with great bands, great food and open containers are allowed. It's a free of charge event that showcases the work and talents of between 30-50 local artists in a number of downtown venues. If you have any questions about Pensacola...just let me know. Surf Report:Ankle to knee high SE short period wind swell in the morning builds to knee to thigh high for the afternoon. Sideshore texture/chop in the morning with W winds 5-10mph. Fairly clean conditions for the afternoon with the winds shifting to the WNW.

PK, We are coming down for the weekend. We will be running real close on time for first pitch for Troy's Friday game at 3:00. Any advice on avoiding traffic issues getting to the stadium with Gallery Night going on?

Any advice on avoiding traffic issues getting to the stadium with Gallery Night going on? 90% of Pensacola will be working until 4-5pm so you shouldn't have an issue finding a place to park at 3pm. There is parking at the stadium, but I don't know the specifics for this game. There are normally several spots near the stadium where parking is $5. If you don't mind a two-block walk, I would park on Palafox St. south of Government St. most parking spots in that area should be free. That way you could check out Gallery Night after the game and be close to your car. If you park in a metered spot (50 cents per hour) don't pay past 5pm. After 5pm it's free.

I have never had an issue parking at that stadium but was worried about getting to it with a major event in the area. You have soothed my fears, hopefully we will be in ahead of any traffic. After the game is no biggie since we are staying the weekend. I look forward to Nick's on Saturday if that comes together!

The best sports bar in the area is New York Nick's in downtown. If you're looking for a good bite to eat and watch college basketball before or after the games I'd strongly recommend going there. It's on Palafox (the "main drag" through downtown) though I'd steer clear of it on Friday night. Gallery Night means the menu will be limited. Best item on the menu? The shaved roast beef sandwich. Also, there will be some minor league hockey going on both Friday and Saturday at the civic center, if that's something you'd be interested in checking out... great fun for an evening.
