So, UAB is going to save all kinds of money by killing football, then pay it all out to schools whose contracts were violated? And when undergraduate applications drop like a stone and the school loses even more money, what's next? So stupid! So wrong! Stupid and wrong... Its the Bammer way!

Wasting no time I see.
This will be the worst mistake in the history of UAB.

Wasting no time I see. This will be the worst mistake in the history of UAB. Nightly News reported a projected $50mill loss to continue the football program. That's a bunch of Jack! I will not miss Legion Field....

So, UAB is going to save all kinds of money by killing football, then pay it all out to schools whose contracts were violated an coaches with contracts but no teams? And when undergraduate applications drop like a stone and the school loses even more money, what's next? So stupid! So wrong! As you probably already know, UAB is not even saving any money by killing football. We actually lose money immediately and will still be subsidizing the same amount. The joke of a commissioned study is online and it is only 6 pages and a few paragraphs. Actual athletic studies are normally in the 60-200 page range. I could have written this report in a single night by googling UAB finances, but this "report" supposedly took almost a year to write. The numbers are a joke and don't say anything. It was all just some thinly veiled sham meant to kill our football program. Reporters asked our fall-guy President a bunch of hard questions today and he couldn't answer any of them. I can't imagine him staying at UAB as he will probably end up getting a vote of no confidence from faculty (student government already voted no-confidence today), but I could be wrong. This sounds stupid, but this is probably one of the worst days of my life. It almost feels like I lost a close relative. It is really heartbreaking knowing that I will never get to see a UAB game or see the marching band again as I marched in the band for 4 years. It wouldn't hurt so badly if this was done for a good reason, but this was solely done out of spite and it makes me sick to my stomach. It's ridiculous how such important things in our state are run by a couple of people who have no real regard for the citizens.

I will not miss Legion Field.... It is a bunch of crap. The report said that if we continued football we would need to invest at least an additional 40 million dollars into facilities to be competitive. It said that if we invested facilities, we would see no increase in ticket revenue (what? ). It also said that by dropping football ENTIRELY, we would only lose 15% of our athletic philanthropies (really???). The same company did a similar report for JMU. Their report said that if they simply moved from FCS to FBS football their philanthropic contributions would go up 100%. It's a sham. It was clear that the consulting company was specifically commissioned just to kill football, maintain Title IX, and give our "president" the numbers he wanted. Our president is claiming we would need a budget 15$ million higher than the highest budget in CUSA to be competitive. It makes zero sense. Our former coach Garrick McGee said that he was told UAB was dropping football while he was coaching here, before the study was even commissioned, which I am assuming is why he bolted ASAP to be the OC at Louisville for Petrino again.

Remember, this board is representing the same university that REFUSES to play any in state college or university in football. They want NO competition. I grew up an Alabama fan because of my dad but their attitude toward other institutions is awful. Sabin has only made it worse. They would do the same to every other football program if they had the power the wield over UAB. Regrets! We had a great rivalry.

I don't really care about Alabama but why don't you people understand: "if you have the power wield it." Alabama is simply trying to destroy all the obstacles in its way. It sucks but I understand it. It's life.

I admittedly have no love for UAB. I think I may have practically laughed when I heard about the shut down. But this video is heartbreaking. It really drives home how people are affected by this. I hope all the players find new good homes.

So you say you understand destroying anything you have the power to destroy if it increases your life's goals. Wow, some philosophy to live by. I can understand business decisions and I'm not close enough to this situation, and neither is anyone here, to REALLY understand the validity of that report. I just see the attitude UA expounds and its vial. Frankly I don't understand the acceptance of "wielding power if you have it" but then I detest countries that do that sort of thing like Russia. Neither do I contend that I understand it in the broadest sense. In the short run yes, it's called bullying!
