Did Mr. Ho see another commit tell TMTDM to go stuff self or that old news?
At this rate, TMTDM might be able to sign Pike Liberal team.
December 15th TOO late. Especially when $EC Coordinator we hire tell Jimmy Hartwell he wait until after bowl game to start. TMTDM become $EC minor-league program. It big joke.

Could not agree more Ho. Dec 15 will be past the JUCO signing date for early enrolles and to,late to get a good HS class. We will be forced to take the left over JUCO players that nobody else wants. We have to get off this JUCO train to begin with and start building a program again. This will be a train wreck of a season and a recruiting class. If we could announce a coach next month be could recruit. It won't shock me in the least if we don't have a coach by Dec 15

No matter if you hire someone now or Dec 15, next year is re-build.

Typical over reactionary thread when you haven't had a coaching change in 25 years. Everyone has forgotten what the process is like.
If we have as much talent as some on here seem to think, and the problem is only coaching the new staff should be good for seven wins in the first year.
My opinion is we didn't get bad in one year and we won't be great in one year.

Agree, this will take a couple + years to rebuild, combination, of several things besides coaching, talent and leadership from players is right up there with some of the coaching positions that have caused this. Also, if a strong disciplinary coach is hired , and from the looks of the list from JH, that is one thing required, you can look for current player turn over too, as that happens daily when change is made. Just look at Texas currently, and when Saban took over during the dark days of UA.

I would rather see us rebuild than hear this " fill imediate needs" crap again.

Hemi and chad are right.
On another note; outside of someone currently coaching at the HS level or Coach O, if a candidate is available and can be announced prior to 12/1, I'm not sure I'd want him.

Agree 100% on the door knob hitting some on the way out. That crap poisons a team

Don't forget that it's highly likely whoever we hire will have built personal relationships with several recruits that could end up at Troy because the coach ends up here. Happens all the time. I believe this next recruiting class has the potential to be our best in years, if not ever. Provided we hire the right person, which I have full confidence we will.

It depends on when they make the hire......hire too late and it's too late for most recruits.

Assuming the hire is from the college or even high school ranks.

Assuming the hire is from the college or even high school ranks. So your thinking we have sunk so low we can only get a JR High or Rec League Coach?

We will get a SEC asst. With no HC experience. That's pretty much a done deal imo. The recruiting part when he takes over will be tricky because the players he is in contact with now are not the players we will be recruiting. It will be interesting to see if he pulls a rabbit out of the hat on signing day.

Until the First week of February and the papers are signed a lot changes for every player and every school. New HC is an assistant, can convince several recruits the potential to play immediately. (rather that will really happen or not). IMO the assistant coaches of all schools are usually the one building the relationships with the recruits anyway, not the HC. The HC on the official visit maybe, but to get to that point, its all assistants. No matter who it is, work cut out for the them and will have to hit the ground sprinting.

Hartwell has said publicly that recruiting will be an important trait of our next HC. I hope the new guy has a chance to show off that job skill very quickly. The "right fit" will also mean a guy who understands recruiting to Troy is not the same as recruiting to a Power 5.

The "right fit" will also mean a guy who understands recruiting to Troy is not the same as recruiting to a Power 5. That is why I like the idea of a FCS coach. Recruiting to a top tier FCS program is closer to recruiting to Troy than a SEC school. Top FCS schools are close talent wise, they just have 20 less total scholarships. The new coach I hope understands what it takes to recruit Troy. You aren't selling a big town, a big school, a 90,000 seat stadium and country club facilities. Like you said, you sell the chance to play immediately and the player/coach relationship

Most all SEC Assistants will have some form of contact with the "pool" of D2-FBS prospects. The SEC recruits not only players but almost every coach and some of his "prospects" regardless if the school ever thinks the prospects are offer worthy. It's the nice thing about money...... With the right hire ground can be made up quickly, especially with a firm commitment/timeline on new facilities......
