Through seven games this season, the Troy defense had forced 16 fumbles but recovered just one. It was a statistic that reminded players and coaches just how delicate the balance of a game can be. Against Western Kentucky, the Trojans came away with two fumble recoveries that shifted the game's momentum.On the Hilltoppers' third drive of the game, Tyler Roberts sacked quarterback Brandon Doughty forcing the ball loose. Roberts had enough awareness to pursue the rolling ball, scoop it up and return it for 16 more yards. The play led to the Trojans first touchdown of the game, helping them to a 10-3 first quarter lead. After Troy was dominated in the second quarter, quarterback Corey Robinson was intercepted on the Trojans first drive of the second half. WKU drove near midfield before Doughty fumbled a handoff exchange. Troy safety Camren Hudson swooped in and recovered the ball.
