When I attended Troy from 1986-90 Coach Riddle always had northern schools scheduled for the first few games. The northern schools got to get in games in better weather (no snow). I wonder if we could get a big 10 school or a Syracuse etc. To play us in Troy. It would sure draw well I woukd have think.

Pretty lack-luster lineup. Really wanted to see an Auburn or Alabama home game.

The Trojans faced Alabama at Bayfront Stadium last season and will return to Pensacola to take on Saint Louis, North Florida and Nicholls State on Feb. 20-22.
Hemi, it looks like I will need to offer you another Pensacola "Tour of Beers" in February! smiley-eatdrink009
Surf Report: Wednesday: Small scale (ankle to knee high) surf. Fairly clean in the morning with NE winds 5-10mph. Semi glassy/semi bumpy conditions for the afternoon with the winds shifting SE less than 5mph.

Back to my question. Can we schedule some Northern schools to come play us early. I know it was done when a Riddle coached. I think it would be great to play a Syracuse, or Boston College etc. They can get games in while the weather is really bad at home.

In the last 4 seasons. Syracuse doesn't play baseball.

I still hope for a Big 10 program. That woukd draw. I know Riddle had schools out of Michigan a lot. Just a thought if Bama and Auburn won't play us, I'm sure there is team's in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana etc that would love a trip south. Just imagine Ohio State or Michigan game playing us at home.

I think Illinois and a few other "big name" schools use to come to Dothan for that tourney didn't they? Notre Dame plays baseball and there are a lot of Big 10 teams that might draw a crowd. Its about attendance. People will come for a name even though the quality of baseball might be better with the teams few have heard off. Heck, if the FSU coach had not gotten so livid the last time they visited Troy, that would be a natural home and home for us but he vowed to never return. Maybe when he leaves.....but then his son is in line so..... Florida or Georgia, Ga. Tech could all be easy home and home games if you can schedule them. They all play OOC games go why not us? I'm surprised UWF is not part of the Pensacola Round Robin.

UWF is DII, that might be the reason, not sure. There are actually some really good DII baseball programs like Tampa and such.

And around 150% for softball. Sad that locals only come out for that.
